Last Sunday, we learned that our mission is much bigger than our occupation. That’s why we cannot just focus on our jobs. We need to discover our mission in life. Our job is what we do to earn a living, but our mission is why we exist in this world. We need to live in view of our mission instead of just living for our occupation. But how do we know our mission? The calling of Abraham gives us a picture or pattern of what a mission from God looks like. Today, we want to look at Genesis 12:1-9 to understand “The Anatomy of A Mission from God.”

Missing Divine Opportunities | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Oct 7, 2022
Text: Luke 13:10-17
God is always at work in this world and also in our lives. He wants us to join Him in His work of grace and mercy so that we can become active participants rather than passive onlookers. Unfortunately, our focus is on other things. That's why we miss God-moments or divine opportunities.

Acts 2:14-41 gives us a record of the first evangelistic sermon in the Book of Acts. Based on the amount of space that Luke devotes for this sermon, we can assume that he intended it to be a model for us in proclaiming the Gospel.

Praying for Leaders | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
1 May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. 2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. 3 May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. 4 May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. 5 May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests. 6 Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. 7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. 8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. 9 Lord, give victory to the king! Answer us when we call! (Psalm 20:1-9)
Those serving in leadership, especially in the church, are constantly engaged in a spiritual battle. They are usually the prime targets of the enemy, Satan. If they fall, many are affected. They need every kind of help they can get, especially our prayers. Praying for leaders is one of the most strategic ministries that anyone can ever engage in.

Asking God For Help | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Nov 4, 2022
Text: Psalm 54:1-7
We sometimes find ourselves in need. Either we are being harassed by evil people or we are in situations where we don't know what to do or how to get out. During such times, we can come to God and ask for help.

1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying, 3 “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. 5 He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, 6 “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” 7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. 8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” 10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. 12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. (Psalm 2:1-12)
When we look at ourselves, it's easy to lose confidence. The world is so big and its problems are so great that we sometimes feel so small. How can we overcome this feeling of intimidation? Sometimes we worry too much about our weaknesses that we fail to see the real source of our confidence. We need to learn how to put our confidence in the Lord.

Main Idea: “Our confidence is in the Lord, not in ourselves.” (“Ang kompiyansa natin ay nasa Panginoon, hindi sa sarili natin.”)
How can we be confident in the Lord?
Three Realities
1. Jesus is now enthroned as Lord (vv.1-6).
2. His kingdom will continue to expand (vv.7-9).
3. One day every knee will bow down to Him (vv.10-12).

Practicing silence and solitude regularly as a disciple of Jesus is important for several reasons.
Firstly, solitude and silence provide an opportunity to withdraw from the distractions and busyness of life, allowing us to focus our attention on God. In the midst of a fragmented and conflicted world, engaging in prescribed activities such as Bible study, prayer, and church attendance may not have the desired transformative effect. Solitude and silence, on the other hand, create a space for us to be still and know God, redirecting our thoughts, feelings, and choices.
Secondly, solitude and silence have the power to rejuvenate and strengthen us. Lengthy periods of solitude and silence, including rest, can be very powerful in restoring our body and soul. By intentionally choosing these disciplines, we demonstrate our willingness to prioritize God and create space for Him to work in our lives. God does not compete for our attention; if we do not withdraw from the things that exhaust us, He may leave us to our own devices.
Furthermore, solitude and silence can have a ripple effect on our social settings. As we experience transformation through these disciplines, the effects will reverberate through the communities we find ourselves in. Our newfound rest and strength will impact our interactions with others, allowing us to bring a different perspective and presence into our relationships.
In summary, practicing silence and solitude regularly as a disciple of Jesus is important because it enables us to find a new habitual orientation in the Kingdom of God. It allows us to experience God's presence in a deeper way, rejuvenates our body and soul, and has the potential to positively influence our social settings.
