***Steven Patrick Morrissey***, known by his surname, is an English singer, songwriter, and author. He came to prominence as the frontman of rock band the ***"[Smiths](https://cutt.ly/vvmCtDB)"*** who were active from 1982 to 1987. Since then, he has pursued a successful solo career.
Morrissey's music is characterised by his baritone voice and distinctive lyrics with recurring themes of emotional isolation, sexual longing, self-deprecating and dark humour, and anti-establishment stances.
***"Viva Hate"*** is the Morrissey debut solo studio album, released on 14 March 1988 by ***HMV***, six months after the final album by the **Smiths**, ***"Strangeways, Here We Come"***.
Working with producer **[Stephen Street](https://cutt.ly/3vmVhur)** and guitarist **[Vini Reilly](https://cutt.ly/JvmVc3T)**, Morrissey doesn't drastically depart from the Smiths last sounds, offering a selection of 12 jangling guitar pop songs. Plus synthesizers.
***”Viva Hate”*** was generally well received by critics. **[Rolling Stone](https://cutt.ly/xvmBHdj)** called the album "a tight, fairly disciplined affair", in comparison of its sound to that of The Smiths. In its retrospective review, **[Pitchfork](https://cutt.ly/zvmBXS6)** called the album "one of Morrissey's most interesting records, and certainly his riskiest", and that its "strange mix of pomp and minimal languor makes Viva Hate the only Morrissey LP you'd consider listening to just for its music".
***”Bengali In Platforms”*** is the fourth song on Morrissey’s debut album ***”Viva Hate”***, released on 14 March 1988 by ***HMV***.

***"Elastica"*** were a British rock band formed in London in 1992.
In mid-1992, ex-**Suede** band members **[Justine Frischmann](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justine_Frischmann)** and **[Justin Welch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Welch)** decided to form a group. By the autumn of that year, bassist **[Annie Holland](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annie_Holland)** and guitarist **[Donna Matthews](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donna_Matthews)** were added.
After playing more shows and demoing new material in the first half of 1996, Elastica entered the studio in the later part of the year to begin work on their second album.
After re-recording most of these songs in mid-1999, their second proper album, ***”The Menace”***, was released in April 2000. After the release the band announced their amicable break-up.
The main difference between 1st and 2nd is the preponderance of eerie, slower numbers, something totally absent from the debut. These are often built on layers of synths and tend to be considerably more reflective than the rest of the material, demonstrating the band's musical progression. It may not be the huge progression that some groups make after five years, but it is certainly a consolidation of their strengths and a restatement of purpose as Elastica the art-punk band.
***”Mad Dog God Dam”*** is first song on second Elastica’s album ***"[The Menace](https://lbry.tv/@OrganizamStar:8/Elastica---The-Menace:c)"***, release under the **”[Deceptive](https://www.discogs.com/label/7410-Deceptive)”** Record label.

# ***Sonic Youth Biography***
***Sonic Youth*** was an American rock band based in *New York City*, formed in 1981.
Founding members ***[Thurston Moore](https://cutt.ly/AOmudDl)*** (guitar, vocals), ***[Kim Gordon](https://cutt.ly/LOmujx4)*** (bass, vocals, guitar) and ***[Lee Ranaldo](https://cutt.ly/GOmuz5Y)*** (guitar, vocals) remained together for the entire history of the band, while ***[Steve Shelley](https://cutt.ly/OOmubhc)*** (drums) followed a series of short-term drummers in 1985, rounding out the core line-up.
***[Jim O'Rourke](https://cutt.ly/eOmuRjF)*** (bass, keyboards, guitar) was also a member of the band from 1999 to 2005, and ***[Mark Ibold](https://cutt.ly/bOmuPsq)*** (guitar, bass) was a member from 2006 to 2011.
***Sonic Youth*** emerged from the experimental *no wave* art and music scene in New York before evolving into a more conventional rock band and becoming a prominent member of the American *noise rock* scene.
Their inventive use of alternate tunings, dissonance, and feedback, which they combined with the intensity of *hardcore punk* and the performance art aesthetic of New York's *avant-garde*, created a new sonic landscape with an impact that lasted for decades.
> The first ***Sonic Youth*** album "Confusion Is Sex" was recorded by was recorded by ***[Wharton Tiers](https://cutt.ly/MOQQzDx)*** in his *Chelsea* studio - the basement of a building where he worked as a superintendent. It was mostly recorded during ***[Jim Sclavunos](https://cutt.ly/hOQQEiC)*** brief tenure as drummer for the band. As the sessions drew to a close, *Sclavunos* chose to quit and ***[Bob Bert](https://cutt.ly/uOQQGyj)*** was invited back.
> It's the only ***Sonic Youth*** album on which guitarist ***Lee Ranaldo*** plays bass, specifically on the song ***"[Protect Me You](https://cutt.ly/JO2ZRWE)"***.
>
> Abrasive and archaic, theatrical and confrontational, ***"Confusion Is Sex"*** marks the opening strides that ***Sonic Youth*** made during their long slog through the American underground scene of the '80s.
> This album is underground if anything - it's *lo-fi* to the point of tonal drabness, as the instruments seem to ring out in only one tone, that of screechy noise.
