Russian FSB detains man suspected of complicity in attempt to kill ex-Ukrainian MP
Officers of the Russian Federal Security have detained a man believed to be complicit in the assassination attempt on Oleg Tsarev, a former Deputy of Ukraine’s parliament, the Verkhovna Rada. The suspect is a resident of Yalta who was spying on Tsarev on orders from Ukrainian Security Service.
In 2014, Tsarev, then an MP, supported the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics’ rebellion against the new government in Kiev following the Western-backed Maidan coup and became a speaker of the parliament of ‘Novorossiya’ – the union of the Donbass republics.
