Resting, Winter Training and Relaxation | The Great Athlete Tip
Resting, Winter Training and Relaxation | The Great Athlete Tip
For any sprinter or 400m athlete, the winter season can be the start of a new dawn. Putting frustrations or success of last season behind you to focus on achieving more. But there are pitfalls that athletes fall into as they transition from break to winter training and this is what this video concentrates on.
This is the perfect time to use relaxation and practise it in your sprinting and running. Making it a priority prevents injury and overtraining. Athletes will often come back into training with increased motivation and vigour. A renewed drive. But this is a double edged sword as this can lead the athlete to train too hard too early leading to injury.
Practising relaxation during this time allows any athlete to build their fitness up at a rate that is manageable for their body while also incorporating proper relaxed running technique.
2 BRAND NEW Relaxation for Sprinting Programs NOW AVAILABLE.
Seems like an obvious statement but it's important to understand that if racing is too irregular, there is less chance of athletes and sprinters running relaxed and achieving the relaxation need for a flow state. Training cannot replicate a racing environment. The pressure you put on yourself in a race is infinitely higher than in training and because of this, tightening up in the shoulders and jaw is likely. In a race environment, we still want to nail every race that we do and we want to get faster every race. And we want to even nail our first race when it's highly likely we won't because we are not used to the racing environment and we're not used to the pressure we put on ourselves in competition. Added to this, we're not used to racing other athletes that we do not know.
It's more important to see the racing season as a progression where you can fail and fail and make alterations so that you are prepared for the important races that are normally later on in the season.
Make sure you are prepared to #beracefit . It is paramount for relaxed sprinting and #flowstate #sprinting .

Confusing headline? Why is improving yourself going to help you to #runfaster ? And what does that mean? The truth is it's not all about training hard and recovering well through good nutrition and sleep. You must go further than that. You've got to find things that you are doing or thinking that are making you physically weaker and more prone to injury. There are daily habits all sprinters and athletes have that hurt them physically and mentally. This hampers sprinting ability. These things could be physical habits (such as your mobile phone use) but it's also the the stressful thoughts we have. What are the things that stress you out/ What thoughts do you have that are negative and not helping you? What things annoy you and why do they annoy you? What or who are resentful of? All those things put your body in a deficiant state. All of them take you of your natural state where you are strongest. Self development is just so crucial to your physical capabilties. This video goes into greater detail about the self development aspect and what it involves. Are you truly committed to making these changes? We all know when competing was easy and you ran your fastest race and there was very little effort. Well that was because you had stumbled across you in a superior state of mind and body and you should dedicate time to rediscovering that state. To not do that would be to betray yourself and all those that help you to achieve your goals in sport.

So Confidence leads to relaxation which leads to breaking PR's. But how? And what does this have to do with #sprinting or the flow state ? Well despite its obvious links to religion, faith is described in the dictionary as " A complete trust or confidence in something or someone" And "complete" is the operative word here because the word confidence is absolute. It's 100%. There is no doubt. When there is no doubt about what you want to achieve, there is complete focus on what you are going to do. And your body loves that clarity of focus because it can relax. And relaxation is key to great sprinting and #400m #running.
However doubt is exactly what holds back most sprinters and 400m #athletes from truly performing, from winning the race or breaking PR's. I think its the biggest killer of running performance and particularly sprinting. Doubt puts confusion in the body and smudges the clear direction you want to go in and when there is confusion and no clarity, that is when your body will tighten up and rob you of any speed and endurance. Tightness is the enemy of great sprinting.
On the start line, and pretty much every rep you do in training, you must have faith in what you're about to achieve. And doubt must be noticed and pushed aside. give your body clear direction and clarity and it will perform for you. In the video I go over a time back ib my 400m running career when I used clarity of focus, faith and anger to my advantage.

Enjoyment is #1 performance enhancing tool.
If you don't treat it as a priority in your training then you are hampering your sprinting speed and your times will suffer.
As athletes and sprinters, we can get obsessed about the end result - the time- the finishing position. I know when I was training and competing in the 400m, this mindset crippled my performance. And it made me more miserable when my mood was dictated by my poor performance.
If you are doing the same, you're putting the cart before the horse and you will put an anchor in your goals as a sprinter.
This video will tell you more

If you're a sprinter, there is a simple technique you could be doing to make yourself instantly quicker on the track. Learn about it in this video.
Sprinters are focused on their training to quicker times but there is one thing that could decide how much they are benefiting from their training.
Breathing is of upmost importance and yet most of us think we do it correctly because we do it automatically
Not so
Stress and challenges of life have altered our breathing patterns and unless we learn to correct them then we compromise our ability to perform on the track.
Not breathing affects our strength levels, our energy, our posture, our flexibility and our abiltity to be injury free. It also creates tension which is the enemy of sprinting and contrary to our natural sprint form. Relaxation is crucial to optimal sprinting and yet it's undervalued.
Learn how to breathe correctly and you could bring down that time so easily.

In the sport of #sprinting , there's a lot of misunderstanding about getting "in the zone". Many believe its hard training that achieves this and others may think it's pot luck. When you were just in the right place at the right time mentally and physically. What is normal is that sprinters concentrate too much on their training and not enough on this important topic. Being in the zone is crucial to achieving what you desire out of athletics and to not be in the zone is a waste of time and effort and actually ruins careers. A bit dramatic? Well it's true. To not be in the zone means your stressed. Simple as that. Your mind and body are not in sync and when that happens, your mind and body have different goals and not focused on the goal you truly want to achieve - namely to run faster. Sprinting is all about being relaxed. Relaxation is power and tension and tightness is the enemy. Consequently, when you are relaxed then you are in the zone and you will run faster times. So it's important that athletes focus some of their sprint training on being relaxed and actually practise being relaxed. Sprinting, as does all endeavours, involves mind and body. Watch the video to understand what it is and what you can do to acccess it.
