Individualism in the church can lead to a lack of community and connection among members. When individuals prioritize their own needs and desires above the collective well-being of the church, it can hinder the development of meaningful relationships and the sense of belonging within the community. Being a Christian is living in community with others.

Most Christians are content just to listen to sermons every Sunday. Thank God some are willing to step up to belong to a small group and become more like Christ by going through spiritual formation together with others. However, not many are willing to take the next step, which is to help build the body of Christ. Spiritual formation is not an end in itself. God wants us to be transformed for the sake of others. He wants us to be involved in ministry, whether as workers or as leaders, so that the body of Christ may be built up in love toward spiritual maturity.

Day 4: Fulfilling Your Mission with Focused Attention
As we near the end of our week, let's recap the essential lessons from Abraham's journey. Fulfilling your mission requires focused attention. It means not trusting in your emotions, expectations, or inclinations, but instead, focusing on God's instructions, provisions, and directions. As you go about your day, ask yourself, "Am I really focusing on God's purpose for my life? How am I handling my emotions, expectations, and inclinations that tend to sidetrack me?" In prayer, seek God's help to stay focused on His mission.

The solution to every problem depends on the nature of that problem. If a problem is medical in nature, we will seek a medical solution. If the problem is financial, we will find ways to come up with financial solutions. When it comes to relationships, we often assume it's a natural problem. So, we look for natural solutions. But this is wrong. The problem, as we have seen, is that relationships involve people who are spiritual beings with a spiritual problem (i.e., the flesh) and spiritual enemies. Therefore, the solution must be spiritual.

1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:1-6)
Because the Lord loves us so much and He has chosen us by His grace to be with Him forever, it is only right that we should glorify Him by fully cooperating with His grace in saving us. This requires that we fully trust Him in all areas of our lives.

Main Idea: “The key to surrender is complete trust in the Lord.” (“Ang susi sa pagsuko ay lubos na pagtitiwala sa Panginoon.”)
How can you fully trust the Lord?
You must see Him as...
1. Your Pastor (v.1).
2. Your Provider (vv.2-3).
3. Your Protector (v.4).
4. Your Proponent (vv.5-6).

Prayer is opening yourself to God as you would to a friend. This is the true definition of prayer. Come to God and open yourself to Him and He would be more than willing to open up Himself to you through the Holy Spirit.

The Christian faith is based on the life, death, resurrection, and return of Jesus Christ. He is the center of everything. But it's easy to forget. This is the reason why we must celebrate the Lord's Supper regularly and frequently. More importantly, we must understand why we are celebrating it.

1 I love you, Lord, my strength. 2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies. 4 The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. 5 The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. (Psalm 18:1-6)
Prayer is the privilege that God has given us so that we can communicate with Him at any time. If you think about it, it is indeed an awesome privilege. But sometimes people don't appreciate this privilege. They take it for granted. If ever they do pray, it is often very shallow, routine, and sometimes insincere. How can we respond to this awesome privilege in a way that glorifies God? We must learn how to pray authentic prayers.

Main Idea: “Authentic prayer reaches the heart of God.” (“Ang makatotohang panalangin ay sa puso ng Diyos nakararating.”)
How can we pray authentic prayers?
Two Ways
1. Express your personal devotion to God (vv.1-3).
2. Confess your honest struggles with God (vv.4-6).

6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” 7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. 8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. 10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” 11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.” 12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.” 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. (Galatians 3:6-14)
Holding on to our faith in the Gospel is the most important decision we can ever make. It's the only way we can be saved, not just in the beginning but until the very end of our lives. Unfortunately, some do not think it's that important. In fact, some would let go or set aside their faith in the Gospel because of various reasons (e.g., trials, testings, temptations, thorns, etc.). We must always remember how important faith is, not just faith in a general sense (e.g., that God exists or that He loves us) but faith in the Gospel about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, 26 and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. 27 And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” 28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. 30 Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you. 32 For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all. (Romans 11:25-32)
It's easy to get frustrated when we are trying to reach people for Christ. We are doing everything we can to win them but it seems like they continue to refuse the Gospel. This can easily lead to carnal attitudes on our part. We need to understand God's mysterious work in people's lives so that we will not give up. The Lord is working in ways that may not seem obvious to us. But He is still at work. We only need to trust in Him.

Main Idea: “We must trust God with humility that He is working mysteriously.” (“Dapat magtiwala sa Diyos nang may pagpapakumbaba na Siya ay gumagawa nang mahiwaga.”)
What is God doing mysteriously that we need to trust?
Two Mysterious Works
1. He is working in those who are hardened (25-27).
2. He is working in those who are disobedient (28-32).
