Here is my latest PS2-DCS upgrade Demo. It's to a Williams (by Bachmann) O-gauge GP-38. Tested in this video is Sound, motion, lights, couplers, smoke unit, etc.
Like all my upgrades, I installed this one myself but for this one having left the smoke unit out only because at the time of the upgrade I was short of cash to purchase one! I'll install one later. As for the Model itself, like all Williams products, it's lacking in detail, Handrails and Grab-irons are grossly out of proportion and not realistic (let-a-lone accurate!), cab numbers are wrong (2200 series were B.N. merger cab numbers for GP-30s not GP-38s).
I also had to do some touch-up painting, painting the handrails black (they were red...yuck!) and window frames black and silver. It has working cab lights, marker lights, overhead mars light, and on the nose headlights. I still have to install the MU lines on the pilots. But at just $60.00 purchased stock and $150.00 (MTH RR Club price) $210.00 total, this wasn't a bad deal. It sounds Great, looks fairly cool, and overall I am happy with the MTH PS2 upgrade, and really, this little inexpensive Williams product in general.

Here is another short clip of my MTH Premier 4-8-4 "Santa Fe" 2900 class Northern and a Premier "BNSF" AC4400CW . As mentioned before often on modern railfan trips with steam power, there is usually a Diesel-electric Loco lashed up as a helper and to supply electrical power for the coaches. I thought of a "what if" Fan trip of a Santa Fe "2900" Steam loco and a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Diesel from 2010. You'll have to wait a minute for the train to come around. The 4-8-4 is a Protosound 2 upgrade I installed myself! Those are 2 Lionel Burlington Route GP-30s with TMCC in the siding.

On Friday October 7th 2011, Iowa Interstate Railroad's East Train, led by locomotive #513 the "Rock Island" was coming into Illinois Valley on its way to Chicago. First stop in the Valley, was Bureau Junction, IL. About 8 miles west of Bureau Junction, in the tiny town of Tiskilwa, IL the 513's consist derailed. 26 cars total with 6 ethanol cars exploding and burning. The entire town of Tiskilwa was evacuated. Later that morning I flew over the wreck site in hopes of getting photos for an Iowa Interstate employee who's a friend of mine and was waiting at Bureau for alternate orders. Unfortunately there was lots of turbulence and I could not get a smooth ride. I was also dodging Chicago's Channel 7 ABC news helicopter who I also was talking to on the radio. In fact you can here me say to him "yeah I see ya.." in the video. It should be noted that the beautiful 513 was not damaged and there were no injuries.

A couple of weeks ago, while visiting the Midwest NMRA Convention, in Springfield, IL. I toured local Layouts around town. One of the published stops in the program was a beautiful layout in S-gauge, built by Bob Jackson. Bob, his wife and his son all made us convention goers feel right at home with their hospitality and sharing their talent for model railroading. Always a favorite scale of mine, I had to check out this beautiful layout. Enjoy!!!
