Focusing when reading or meditating on God's word is essential. The Bible has the power to transform our lives and shape our characters. However, this transformative process requires intentional reflection and application of its teachings. Focusing allows us to internalize, contemplate, and align our lives with the principles found in Scripture. The goal is not just reading the word of God but listening to God. How then do we read the word of God in order to hear the Lord?
10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. 11 I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. (Galatians 1:10-12)
A lot of people are rejecting the Gospel today either explicitly, by openly stating their objections, or implicitly, by living a life contrary to the Gospel. The former is at least honest. They are rejecting the Gospel because they have questions and they feel that no one has yet answered them in ways that satisfy them. Hopefully, their questions will be answered soon and they will be able to come to faith. However, the latter is harder to deal with because they are usually former or current followers of Christ who no longer believe the Gospel in their hearts even though they still profess to believe. This kind of rejection is dangerous.

Join me this coming Friday, July 28, as we learn together how to practice the Sabbath as born-again Christians. It's not just an Old Testament practice; it's for us, too. We don't want to miss the blessings of experiencing God's rest as He promised. Our first session is entitled "Stop."

Text: Psalm 33:1-22
Worship is very important in the Christian life. But what is even more important are the reasons why we are doing it. Some Christians love to worship because of the feelings they get out of it. They love the music and the ambiance of a "worship event". But true worship must have its reasons and those reasons must be valid both biblically and personally. Only when we know why we are worshiping the Lord can we truly say that we are worshiping Him in spirit and truth.

Central Idea: “True worship should be our reasonable response to God.” (“Ang tunay na pagsamba ay ang dapat maging makatwirang tugon natin sa Diyos.”)
What are our reasons for true worship?
Four Reasons
1. The Power of His Word (vv.1-9).
2. The Wisdom of His Plans (vv.10-12).
3. The Depth of His Knowledge (vv.13-15).
4. The Assurance of His Saving Grace (vv.16-22).

God called us and saved us so that we may experience real life in Christ. Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10) Unfortunately, many followers of Christ today are not experiencing this. They are looking forward to it in the next life someday but not now. How can we experience real life today?

Spiritual discernment is a crucial aspect of the Christian life that involves the ability to distinguish between what is true and what is false, what is good and what is evil, and what is of God and what is of the devil. It is a process of seeking guidance from God through prayer, studying the Bible, and listening to the Holy Spirit. The importance of spiritual discernment lies in the fact that it helps believers to avoid deception and falsehood, stay on the path of righteousness, and make wise decisions that honor God. In the history of the church, one man named Ignatius of Loyola offered wise counsel concerning spiritual discernment. He calls them Rules of Discernment. I want to go through these "rules" and offer my personal reflections as a pastor. Join me as we talk about these matters of the soul so that we can grow in faith together.
