Becoming Other-Centered | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. 14 I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. 15 If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval. 19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall. 22 So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin. (Romans 14:13-23)
We live in a self-centered world. People are more interested in their own rights and freedom to do what they want to do regardless of its effects upon others. They don't care if others might be hurt or offended for as long as they can get what they want. This is the kind of thinking that the Lord wants to change in people. Our minds need to be renewed when it comes to the exercise of our freedom. This can only happen through the Gospel. We can only become other-centered through the work of God's grace in us.

Signs of a Wasted Life | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. (Psalm 1:4-5)
Sometimes people are not aware that they are wasting their lives. They continue living as if God does not exist or He does not matter. Consequently, their lives are on a spiral downwards. It's important to notice the signs of a wasted life so that we can turn and repent before it's too late. In His mercy, God wants us to turn to Him and surrender our lives to Him so that our lives will not end up wasted.

Sometimes, your mission from God may become clear to you early on in your journey with Him, eliminating the need to wait. This can be a great blessing! However, more often than not, it takes time for things to become clear. You will gradually discover who you are meant to be and what the Lord wants you to do with the life and gifts that He has entrusted to you. While waiting for clarity regarding your mission from God, there is no need to passively wait. God wants you to actively prepare for it by faith by focusing on four areas of your life that will be crucial in fulfilling your mission from God.

1 How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? 3 Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, 4 and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall. 5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. 6 I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me. (Psalm 13:1-6)
One of the most difficult experiences in the Christian life is when you feel like God is absent or far away. Those who go through such experiences describe it as confusing, difficult, doubtful, depressing, etc. Those who are more experienced in the spiritual life call it the "dark night of the soul". It's a temporary experience that can result in either deeper faith or unbelief, even backsliding. Sooner or later, we will all experience this as part of God's pruning or cleansing of our character. Therefore, we must learn how to navigate a "dark night of the soul".

Main Idea: “When everything seems dark, trust in God's faithfulness.” (“Kapag ang lahat ay parang madilim, magtiwala sa katapatan ng Diyos.”)
How do you navigate a dark night of the soul?
Three Steps
1. Feel the absence of God (vv.1-2).
2. Cry out for enlightenment (vv.3-4).
3. Rest in the joy of deeper faith (vv.5-6).

The Means to Go Back | Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
It's crucial to always remember the death of Christ on the cross. Thankfully, because we are predominantly a Christian nation, we are reminded of this once a year. But through the years, many people, even Christians, are no longer interested to remember this very important event. They would rather use this occasion to do other things. Of course, there is nothing wrong with doing other things. But if doing other things results in forgetting the significance of the death of Christ on the cross, then maybe we need to pause and consider that.
Join us for our Good Friday Online Worship Celebration as we remember the true meaning of the Cross. We will also have our Lord's Supper so please prepare your communion elements (bread and juice).

As we continue to study about the Sabbath, let us now focus on the idea of rest. We live in a restless world. All around us are messages to do more and to accomplish more, never finding the rest that we so desperately need. Practicing the Sabbath is a form of resistance to this endless restlessness that we find in this world. Let us learn together what this means.

Christians are unaware of what is available to them because of Christ. Consequently, they miss the opportunities that God makes available for them if they will trust in Him. They waste their time and resources dabbling in worldly pursuits or false attachments. Many settle for mediocrity in their Christian lives instead of experiencing the glory of God. What they need is a deep understanding of the concept of "Open Door." What is an "Open Door"?

57 As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” 58 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” 59 He said to another man, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” 60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61 Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.” 62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:57-62)
Someone said that Christianity is just a generation away from extinction. Of course, that is just an exaggeration. Jesus promised that the church will prevail (Matt 16:18). But in a way, there is some truth to that statement. We need reliable people who will carry on the task of making disciples in every generation so that the Gospel will continue to spread until the Lord returns. How do we find such people?

Main Idea: “The Gospel can only be entrusted to reliable people.” (“Ang Ebanghelyo ay maaari lamang ipagkatiwala sa mga taong maaasahan.”)
What are the qualities of a reliable person?
Three Essential Characteristics
1. Willing to live a life of sacrifice, not comfort (vv.57-58).
2. Willing to let go of disordered attachments (vv.59-60).
3. Willing to prioritize service in the kingdom of God (vv.61-62).
