Before you can screen mirror to your Mac, you need to make sure you have your AirPlay settings configured correctly. On your Mac, open your system settings. On the left, click General. Then select AirDrop & Handoff. Make sure the switch beside AirPlay Receiver is set to on. Then, beside Allow AirPlay for, select Anyone on the Same Network from the dropdown menu. This will allow you to use your Mac as an AirPlay receiver as long as you’re on the same Wi-Fi network.
Now that your settings are configured, make sure both your iPhone and your Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Some routers will have multiple frequencies available for the same home Wi-Fi system so just double check that you’re using the same one on both devices. After that, swipe down on your iPhone home screen to reveal the Command Center and tap the screen mirroring icon. From the menu that appears, select your Mac as the AirPlay receiver you want to use. Click Accept on the notification that appears on your Mac screen. Your devices will then be paired, and you’ll be able to see your iPhone screen on your Mac. Any media you play on your iPhone will come through your Mac’s audio as well. When you’re ready to stop screen mirroring, swipe down on your iPhone and tap the screen mirroring icon again. Then select Stop Mirroring.
