I always heard that of the Mutant League games, football was the better one. I can understand that, as this one is just a bit off. Nothing is necessarily wrong at first. Graphics are fine and you can forgive the FPS. It controls OK and it's fast paced but not too unfair or janky. What feels off are the fundamentals and the randomness of it all. Violence outside of punching sort of comes out of nowhere. In my game, there were explosions and holes in the rink but I didn't really notice it happen because I was following the puck, so it all comes across as very clustery. Shooting is also a pain. Accuracy is very, very low on the shots and I could not get an alley-oop shot to go at all. Passing seemed to be the problem there. I could pass forward on the approach successfully most of the time, but once near the opposing goal, passes always seemed to go very wrong.
Considering that there was a multi-year buildup to getting SF2 on the Game Boy and that didn't work out too well, it's amazing that this game does so well on the humble little handheld. I actually like this better than the full sized arcade game even though that sounds insane.

Pretty faithful version, but not surprising since the same game was made with very little differences for every system. It looks good, plays OK, and has the same strengths and weaknesses as every other version. If they could just extend the timer and give a little more leeway to hallway xeno rushes, that'd be awesome. This game genuinely feels like a good project for a modder. Any version of the game, really. A couple of mechanic tweaks could change the game completely.

A completely random remake/port that I didn't even know existed. The first time anyone fires this up I'm willing to bet that 90% of them take the first bullet to the face, because this game field scrolls and it is a bit disorienting at first. You learn to shake it off, but I'm sure some purists may take issue with so much potentially not being visible to the player. I also had to get used to the bomb mechanic because while I certainly played the original (see the playlist), I'm not an experienced fan of the game and I feel like they changed the way it works here.
But, Yars' on the go. It's still basically the same game, so that's good.

Going through a few games that were recorded, but never posted. Most of these are just games I don't have a strong opinion about one way or another. I do remember that there was a use for pretty much every button, which felt a little weird, but it didn't seem to add anything. It felt like an average superhero action platformer, but with much better graphics and style.

Did anyone actually play this before releasing it? Why is it so slow? Why does the computer sit there and do nothing for eons? Why does everything the CPU lands on result in an auction? I swear, you could play this for 2 hours and not only be unable to finish a game, but the idiot computer will have used up 98% of all battery used in the session. This game hates your AAs.

Certainly not a unique rally style racing game, but it's very accessible and I actually liked playing it. I may even come back and play more of it...after I try out some other rally games I've been itching to get on here. It's directions are pretty spot on, and I do like how it doesn't just say what direction you need to turn, but it gives you an accurate picture of exactly what's coming up and where you'll get spit out after a turn. You're literally looking at the track when the prompts come up, and maybe that's the norm, but in the rally games I've been playing that has not been the case.

This title makes no sense. It screams 80s actionsploitation B-movie...and I kind of like it. It literally looks like this was ripped from the Bruno Mattei portfolio.
I am a big fan of Cabal, but for some reason the formula didn't work for anyone else. Cabal had a very special control scheme that was simple to learn, difficult to master, but offered pretty good control over your gunner. This, much like the clones, does not give you that control. I barely know if I'm getting hit or if rolls work to the point where I clearly just stop bothering to dodge later on. It's playable and forgiving, so is it worth a quarter? Sure.

A Spidey brawler right in the middle of the golden age of beat em ups. Sega was behind it, it's 4 players, and you can even play as Namor. It has a dynamic camera system that varies from fighting on the streets to crawling across a vast rooftop jungle...
So why does this game suck?
I'm willing to bet that there's a Spidey centric Beats of Rage game out there. No, not the Infinity War one. Just Spidey. And I'm willing to bet that it's 10x better than this.
This is just...awkward. It could work as a beat em up, but not as Spidey. You get zero sense of speed, agility, maneuverability, web swinging...it's all missing and you feel like a barely animated mannequin. I don't care what villains show up, I'm playing Captain America and the Avengers. Sorry, Goukuma.

Considering there were 3 years in between titles, I expected to see a lot more changes between the two. They are very alike, though, and this sequel really addresses most of the issues I have with the first game. It's not a difficult game to get into. Anyone can pick this game up and find themselves getting pretty far into it if they wanted to. I had some slip ups, but when I did, it was much easier to rebound and get back into the groove vs. the original game. It also felt like it reduced the amount of hard to reach enemies, something that was very common in the first game. Sometimes, I just want to pick up a game and enjoy it without a massive challenge. This satisfies that need.
