MANCHESTER, MI - Around two dozen students entered Manchester High School without masks on Tuesday in protest of a mask mandate issued by the Washtenaw County Health Department.
The students entered the building on Sept. 7, which was the day the health department’s mask mandate for all schools in the county went into effect.
Located in the southwestern corner of Washtenaw County with an enrollment of about 800 students, Manchester Community Schools had been the only district in the county that made wearing masks optional prior to the health department’s mandate.
While students and parents voiced their displeasure with school officials outside the building Tuesday, Manchester Superintendent Brad Bezeau said the students without mask were allowed to enter the building.
The unmasked students, however, were not allowed into any classrooms and were sent into a separate, isolated part of the building where they completed work for the day.
“It did get vocal and students did begin pressing against the door for entry without masks, obviously not being compliant,” Bezeau said. “I wouldn’t want to block students or anything like that, so that’s certainly how they got past us, but we were doing our due diligence and making sure that they understood that entering the building without a mask isn’t in compliance.”

Biden faces mounting backlash after Taliban swiftly seized power in Afghanistan
Republican lawmakers are demanding resignations as blowback over President Biden’s Afghanistan debacle intensifies.
A handful of Republican congressmen are calling for heads to roll in the administration for the botched handling of the troop withdrawal from Afghanistan that has seen the Taliban swiftly conquer the country while thousands of Americans await evacuation.
Rep. Lance Gooden, R-Texas, said that "resignations need to happen immediately" in the Biden administration.
Gooden's Texan colleague Rep. Dan Crenshaw was in agreement, telling Fox News in a Monday interview that the "incompetence of the Biden administration" on the troop withdrawal "is really overwhelming."
"There need to be resignations, there need to be firings," Crenshaw said. "They couldn't have done this in a worse way. We have American citizens left behind."
"We have people getting shot in Kabul airport at this moment," the Texas congressman continued. "It's such a complete disaster."
Reps. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., called on Biden himself to resign over the Afghanistan debacle.
"These past few days have proven what we’ve already known about Biden and Harris. They are completely unfit to lead," Biggs tweeted.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/tulsi-gabbard-slams-schiff-brennan-big-tech-more-dangerous-than-capitol-rioters
She warned efforts to combat threats could be more dangerous than threats themselves
Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, asserted that tech industry leaders and Democrats such as Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and former CIA director John Brennan are "domestic enemies" of the U.S. who are more dangerous than the rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6.
In a video and thread posted to Twitter Tuesday morning, the former Democratic presidential candidate denounced the violent protesters, but warned that efforts to combat insurgency through surveillance and other monitoring activities posed a greater threat to the country.
"The mob who stormed the Capitol on January 6 to try to stop Congress from carrying out its constitutional responsibilities were behaving like domestic enemies of our country," Gabbard said. "But let’s be clear, the John Brennans, Adam Schiffs and the oligarchs in Big Tech who are trying to undermine our constitutionally protected rights and turn our country into a police state with KGB-style surveillance are also domestic enemies — and much more powerful, and therefore dangerous, than the mob that stormed the Capitol."
Gabbard then showed a clip of Brennan telling MSNBC that Biden’s nominees and appointees "are now moving in laser-like fashion to try to uncover as much as they can" regarding activities that he said were reminiscent of "insurgency movements" that have risen up in other countries.
Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, introduced a bill in 2019 that would create a new statute for a federal offense of domestic terrorism. The bill did recognize the potential for abuse, calling for a report on civil liberty issues that arise from the new statute to be made public within four years of the bill's passage and enactment.
Another 2019 bill, sponsored by Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., calls for establishing offices in the Justice Department, FBI and Department of Homeland Security that would "analyze and monitor domestic terrorist activity."
Since the Jan. 6 riot, lawmakers in Washington have once again been considering a domestic terrorism bill, leading civil rights groups to push back, claiming that federal authorities already have the tools they need to stop criminals without giving them additional powers.
At the same time, social media companies like Twitter and Facebook have been blocking accounts that they say have posted inflammatory comments, including those of former President Donald Trump.
Gabbard called upon Biden and lawmakers from both parties not to allow measures that would infringe upon Americans' rights in the name of law enforcement.
"President Biden,
