Love is essential to our Christian faith. In Ephesians 4:25-5:2, Paul urges us to love one another. In a world filled with division and selfishness, love becomes even more important and challenging. It is necessary for our souls and a testament to our faith. We must live with truth, let go of anger and bitterness, and imitate God by living a life of love. Today, we want to explore the role of love in our lives and our church. Love drives our spiritual growth. We must recognize the urgent need for love, both individually and as a united body of believers, as it is through love that we truly experience life in Christ.
The Spiritual Solution | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
The solution to every problem depends on the nature of that problem. If a problem is medical in nature, we will seek a medical solution. If the problem is financial, we will find ways to come up with financial solutions. When it comes to relationships, we often assume it's a natural problem. So, we look for natural solutions. But this is wrong. The problem, as we have seen, is that relationships involve people who are spiritual beings with a spiritual problem (i.e., the flesh) and spiritual enemies. Therefore, the solution must be spiritual.

Avoiding Legalism | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
1 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and his disciples began to pick some heads of grain, rub them in their hands and eat the kernels. 2 Some of the Pharisees asked, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?” 3 Jesus answered them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4 He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.” 5 Then Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.” 6 On another Sabbath he went into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was shriveled. 7 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal on the Sabbath. 8 But Jesus knew what they were thinking and said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Get up and stand in front of everyone.” So he got up and stood there. 9 Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?” 10 He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did so, and his hand was completely restored. 11 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were furious and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus. (Luke 6:1-11)
Legalism is getting stuck with rules and regulations above everything else. Legalistic people want to be right instead of doing right. They want to major in the minors and minor in the majors. Unfortunately, legalism is very much alive in churches as well as in the lives of Christians everywhere. This damages relationships and makes the Gospel repulsive to people. We need to learn how to avoid legalism.

Communityship is an exciting journey, except for one problem... you have to do it with imperfect and sinning people! In any community of faith, whether small, medium, or large, people will offend each other one way or the other. There is no way of escaping it unless you choose to fake it! The blessing of communityship comes through the process of constant forgiveness. Often it's hard and challenging, and sometimes even frustrating, because not everyone understands or is willing to cooperate. We must always practice constant forgiveness throughout our journey of communityship together.

Day 1: Focusing on God's Instructions
Scripture: Genesis 21:1-21
Today, we center our thoughts on God's guidance in our lives. In Genesis 21, we see Abraham facing a tough decision regarding his son, Ishmael. When emotions ran high, God's instruction prevailed. Our meditation today encourages us to prioritize God's guidance over our emotions and relationships. In your own life, is there a situation where you need to focus more on God's instructions rather than your emotions? Take a moment to reflect. In prayer, ask for God's wisdom and strength to follow His guidance even when emotions are strong.

Losing our sense of purpose can be a difficult experience. It can leave us feeling lost, unfulfilled, and aimless. Without a sense of purpose, we can fall into meaningless activities. However, it's important to remember that it is possible to regain a sense of purpose and get back on track. This requires a willingness to reflect on what is truly important based on God's word.

It is important to recognize the lordship of Jesus in one's life because it is a fundamental part of the Christian faith. In Matthew 16:15-16, Jesus asked the disciples, "Who do you say that I am?" Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus then declared that upon this confession, He would build His church. Put simply, our belief in Jesus as Lord is the foundation of our faith. By recognizing His lordship in our lives, we are honoring Jesus, submitting to His authority, and following His teachings. We are also showing our commitment to living according to God’s will and purpose through faith in Him. Ultimately, recognizing Jesus as Lord is essential to being a disciple of Christ.

Dealing with Difficult People | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
(For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David.) 1 Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. 2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? 3 Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him. 4 Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. 5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the Lord. 6 Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us. 7 Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound. 8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:1-8)
Every now and then we will meet difficult people. For various reasons, they tend to give us a lot of stress. How we wish they would go away! But, sometimes, these types of people are living with us, or vice-versa, and that creates even more stress. How do we deal with difficult people, especially when we cannot get rid of them or we cannot get out of that situation?

False Accusations | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
1 Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, 2 or they will tear me apart like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me. 3 Lord my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands—4 if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe—5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. 6 Arise, Lord, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice. 7 Let the assembled peoples gather around you, while you sit enthroned over them on high. 8 Let the Lord judge the peoples. Vindicate me, Lord, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High. 9 Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure—you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts. 10 My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart. 11 God is a righteous judge, a God who displays his wrath every day. 12 If he does not relent, he will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow. 13 He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows. 14 Whoever is pregnant with evil conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment. 15 Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit they have made. 16 The trouble they cause recoils on them; their violence comes down on their own heads. 17 I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High. (Psalm 7:1-17)
A false accusation is a difficult situation. We are often tempted to defend ourselves or even to fight back. Sometimes we look for a third party who can side with us against the person who is accusing us. This results in further complications. It can become very messy. Relationships can be destroyed when this type of situation is not handled properly. The word of God teaches us a better way to handle false accusations. We need to learn how to respond.

The Problem with Self-Righteousness | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
36 When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37 A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. 39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.” 40 Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Tell me, teacher,” he said. 41 “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?” 43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.” “You have judged correctly,” Jesus said. 44 Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47 Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.” 48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” 49 The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” 50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” (Luke 7:36-50)
Very few people are aware that they are self-righteous. They usually think that they are just right and others are wrong. They fail to see that their sense of being right is actually what is wrong. They tend to look down at others without looking at themselves first. It is obvious to people that they are being self-righteous but they are oblivious of it. Moreover, correcting a self-righteous person is never easy.
