Police officers in Paris have shot a woman who was threatening to ‘blow herself up,’ according to witnesses. The unidentified woman, who was wearing an Islamic veil, initially drew attention at a Metro station, where she was making ‘worrying comments,’ including death threats.

Commuters alerted the police, who managed to isolate the woman, leading to a 50-minute stand-off. Additionally, the station was shut down, soldiers brought in to surround the area, and civilians evacuated in accordance with France’s ‘Vigipirate’ anti-terror alert system. Officers opened fire after the woman began screaming ‘Allahu Akbar’ and threatening to blow herself up. She was taken to the hospital, where her condition was described as ‘critical.’ An investigation has now been launched against the suspect, for ‘apology for terrorism, death threats and acts of intimidation.’
