NOW: Thousands are on the streets of Nanterre, France, on the western outskirts of Paris, where 17-year-old Nahel, who was of Algerian descent, was shot dead by police on Tuesday. Protesters chanted slogans such as "Police, killers!", "Everyone hates the police!" and "Justice for Nahel!".
The murder of the 17-year-old has sparked protests and riots across the country, with hundreds arrested, police stations torched and looted, and clashes with riot police breaking out.
The teenager was illegally shot at close range during a traffic stop this week, said prosecutor Pascal Prache. The protest was called by the mother of the slain boy, who called for "a revolt for her son." Video footage shows the mother on the roof of a van amid the massive protests.
President Emanuel Macron announced on Thursday he was deploying 40,000 police units to crush the unrest. This is four times the amount that was deployed on Wednesday.

Angry bus drivers attacked Security Minister Sergio Berni in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires, protesting about the recent killing of one of their colleagues. 65-year-old bus driver Daniel Barrientos was shot dead early on Monday by two people attempting to board his bus to rob passengers.
Sergio Berni tried to end their strikes by assuring the drivers that investigations and prosecutions were underway. However, the furious bus drivers pelted the minister with stones, beating and thrashing him after he approached them. The ongoing strikes about unsafe working conditions have impacted 14 million people in western Buenos Aires.
Berni was seen bleeding from his face and was forced to wear a cycle helmet as the attacks continued. Berni later told reporters that he sustained a fractured jawbone and undergone concussion therapy during the incident that was live-streamed on local television for 30 minutes.

Niger's coup leaders sent military reinforcements to prevent protesters from storming the base. Hundreds of members of the Turkish LGTBQ+ community joined Istanbul's Pride march, defying a ban from the city authorities. Around 40 people were detained in side streets during the march according to Turkish media reports.
Banned from assembling at Taksim Square, the marchers assembled in the Nişantaşı area and in Mıstık Park.
Video footage shows multiple verbal disputes between marchers and police officers who were wearing riot gear and were seen blocking access to Taksim Square the scene of 2013 anti-government protests.
Members of the Turkish LGTBQ+ community expressed their safety concerns ahead of the march fearing that the AKP government would violently suppress the event.
During the recent Turkish elections, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accused the opposition CHP party of being pro-LGTBQ+. He also vowed that members of the LGBTQ+ community would never be able to join his ruling AK party which is based on Conservative Islamic values.
Amnesty International Europe director, Nils Muižnieks warned that the Turkish government "has helped whip up prejudice, emboldening anti-LGBTI groups in Turkey, some of which have called for violence against LGBTI communities".

Israeli forces massacred at least 11 Palestinians and injured 102 others, during a deadly raid in Nablus, occupied West Bank. According to the latest figures from the Palestinian health ministry, 82 of the victims were hit by live rounds.
Resistance group Lions' Den which was founded last year in response to escalating repression in the occupied West Bank, has claimed six of the killed as their militants.
During the raid, Israeli troops besieged a building in Nablus allegedly housing Palestinian resistance fighters. Video footage shows Palestinians showering Israeli military vehicles with rocks and anything they can get their hands on, trying to repel the assault.
Across Occupied Palestine, Israel has been on a rampage in the last 24 hours. The besieged Gaza strip was bombed repeatedly in the early hours of this morning.
Neighboring Nablus, Jenin refugee camp was scarred by a similar raid just last month when Israeli forces shot dead 10 Palestinians. Already 61 Palestinians, including 13 children, have been killed by Israeli forces this year, equal to more than one fatality per day.
