Real Woodworking? Hand Cutting Cherry Bowties into a Massive Hickory Slab Table and Prep for Finish
In this video I continue a giant hickory slab table build. I will be prepping the table for epoxy pours and setting some hand cut bowties to stabilize the slab to prevent a crack from progressing though the slab.
Today I am going to show you everything you need to know for Hardwood Floor Installation (Nail Down) Like a pro! Installing hardwood floors for the first time is not hard at all and you don't really need any special tools. Having some more specialized tools, like any project, makes the floor install process much faster but floor can be installed without them if necessary.
Did you know I started a second channel?! Been hosting some livestreams over there, come join the fun! Subscribe and hit the notification bell as I don't give much warning of when we are going to hangout!

Items / Tools you will need:
-Underlayment, roofing felt or tar paper will work, or purchase something that is a bit thicker and will help make the hardwood flooring a bit quieter.
-Staple gun for the underlayment
-Belt sander if your subfloor has any unevenness
-Method to make some cuts; circular saw, miter saw, jigsaw or oscillating tool. Don't need all of them but again, they make things move faster.
-A framing nailer to start and finish the floor is necessary, you can floor everything with this nailer but a flooring nailer will give you better results much faster.
-Chalk like, tape measure, hammer and crow bar.
-Obviously you need some hardwood flooring. Make sure it has been in the room for 10-14 days to acclimate.

Can a DIYer Airless Spray Paint Metal Building? The addition on the house has been done for a while now and is much closer to the metal barn (which houses the DIYTyler shop) then it was before so you noticed the color difference between the vinyl house and the metal commercial style barn color.

We recently rebuilt the shed at the back of the property, which is now the same color as the house.....so....the barn was looking REALLY bad! It is a 30x40 barn with metal siding and trim. The trim was a different color than the trim on the house, and the siding didn't match either. To make matters worse there was a lean-to added to the back of the barn that is YET a different color of brown! This had to change!
You can rent Airless spray equipment, where we live a medium duty sprayer is less than $100 for a full day rental.

We decided to paint the metal trim and siding to match the other buildings on the property. Here are the steps we took to transform this barn for about $500!.
1) We began by replacing the man door that was rotting on the bottom due to water damaged before we put a gutter on the barn. This was $200 all by itself!
2) We then removed those gutters as they were the correct color and had no need to paint them. 3) Removed an rust on the metal siding using a wire wheel on an angle grinder, there was not much but a few spots mostly on the seams.
4) Powerwashed the entire barn using Simple Green House and Siding cleaner and our Greenworks 2300psi Electric power washer. https://bit.ly/3jrpvaB
5) We then used Rustoleum rusty metal primer to prime these areas to prevent rust from starting again. This primer cost about $15.
6) Then painted the trim a dark brown using Sherwin williams Super Paint (all super paint cost me $300) which is an outdoor waterborne paint that is perfect for painting metal that already has paint on it. We sprayed the trim using a Graco TC Pro cordless airless paint sprayer.
7) Masked off the Trim we just painted using Sharp Lines tape (3M) and masking paper.
8) Painted the metal siding using tan Sherwin Williams super paint. Sprayed 6 gallons of this paint using a Graco ProX17 sprayer, took me about 4 hours to finish all the painting.
9) Remove masking right after you have coverage otherwise the paint will dry on the tape and you could peel paint up.
10) Clean up and sit back and admire the transformation!

In this video we take some really old, rustic barnwood that was in the barn of our first house when we bought it and reclaim it to make a special sign for our home. We wanted to make a sign from something old for our new home that we just moved into. This sign is wrapped with metal around the edges which is held in place using carriage bolts and construction adhesive. The letters of the sign are burned into place using a stencil.

Today I finally got my band saw up and running again! I made a simple, sturdy base with box joints using dimensional lumber and plywood that is a huge improvement in stability from the base that came with the saw. I also reversed the rotation of the induction motor and mounted it next to the saw instead of under it thus giving me more room for storage under the saw. Added a link belt and what a big improvement in vibration! Check it out and let me know what you think!
