Bueaventura Maduo Cigar Review | #leemack912 (S09 E52). Eleven years after Curivari introduced its value-oriented Buenaventura line, the company has announced a maduro version that will debut at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show later this week.
The Buenaventura Maduro incorporates a Mexican San Andrés wrapper covering an internal blend made up entirely of Nicaraguan tobacco. For context, the original Buenaventura blend is a Nicaraguan puro that was released in three vitolas in 2012.
There will be five different sizes in the regular production Buenaventura Maduro line at launch:
Buenaventura Maduro BV500 MAD (5 1/4 x 50) — $7.50 (Box of 10, $75)
Buenaventura Maduro BV560 MAD (5 1/2 x 56) — $8 (Box of 10, $80)
Buenaventura Maduro BV600 MAD (6 x 60) — $9 (Box of 10, $90)
Buenaventura Maduro MINI BV MAD (3 1/2 x 50) —$5.50 (Box of 20, $110)
Buenaventura Maduro PETIT BV MAD (4 1/4 x 54) — $6.50 (Box of 20, $130)
The five-vitola line is being made at the Tabacalera de Nicaragua S.A. factory. In an email, Holman A. Lazo, spokesperson for Curivari, told halfwheel that all five sizes of the Buenaventura Maduro are scheduled to begin shipping to retailers in August.

This is both a great time to be a fan of cigars, and one of the bleakest. It seems every day there are new attacks on our freedoms to enjoy fine cigars, and there are players who won’t stop until our luxurious hobby goes the way of the dodo bird. But one great thing this impending sense of doom has caused is a very strong feeling of camaraderie among the best brands in the industry. Rather than throat-cut competition, companies are collaborating to bring the best products possible to the market. The most recent of these big name collaborations is La Coalicion.
Willy Herrera of Drew Estate and Jon Huber of Crowned Heads have very similar visions when it comes to cigars. They’re both industry leaders, paving the way for a new generation of aficionados with innovative & provocative packaging and truly unique blending. La Coalicion is a fully collaborative effort between these two titans, and the results are nothing short of extraordinary. A beautifully oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper conceals a Sumatran binder and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, and produces a full-bodied bevy of earth, coffee, and raisin notes. Steve Saka was tired of everyone thinking that the Sobremesa Brulee is sweetened. (Because it’s not!) So he put this STFU Sampler together so everyone could try the original Brûlée and a sweetened version to see if they could tell the difference. STFU “officially” means “SAKA’S TASTE FOR U’RSELF” Sampler. BUT...there’s a pretty apparent (and hilarious) double entendre going on here. Hehe.
So every cigar in the STFU Sampler is the Sobremesa Brûlée blend. Some are the original Brûlée without sweetness. Some are sweetened. Some are double-sweetened!
Saka will be revealing which cigars are which on which on a Facebook Live on Sept. 15, 2020.
The Dunbarton Sobremesa Brûlée features an Ecuadorian Connecticut shade G2BW wrapper with Mexican Matacapan negro de temporal binder. Fillers are all Nicaraguan including Condega C-SG, Pueblo Nuevo Criollo, La Joya Esteli C-98, and ASP Esteli hybrid ligero.
So you will get a 5ct Sampler of Sobremesa Brulee Toro STFU (6x52). Each cigar is labeled with either S. T. F. U. Or !!! on the ribbon.
