The term ‘Peranakan’ means ‘locally born’ in Malay, and refers to the descendants of foreign traders who married local women in Southeast Asia centuries ago.
Singapore’s Peranakan community is mostly Peranakan Chinese, descendants of Chinese traders who settled in the busy ports of Penang and Singapore in the 19th century.
After four years of renovation, the Peranakan Museum is reopening Feb 17 2023 with a stronger focus on the community's diversity. Over 800 objects showcase the range of influences to its culture over the centuries.

I finally reached Yogyakarta city, Indonesia's capital city of central Java.
From the Yogyakarta train station , I walked into the alley leading into some of the most quaint kampong at Kauman Darussalam.
Then I passed through the Yogyakarta old Palace vicinity before doing my check in.
I ended the video at an intended venue Alun Alun Selatan. A football field during weekdays but on weekend, it tuned into market. I found my nostalgic feelings in the night market!
