This lawsuit moving forward is gonna go into the discovery process where Disney, of course, is going to get their hands on the text messages between you and your aides. It's gonna get their hands on emails and text messages between your aides, your office and Republicans in the state legislature. It's gonna get their hands on every little dirty thing you said behind the scenes so that you could somehow punish Disney for coming out against your, don't say gay legislation.
That's why you want the lawsuit dropped, because this is not gonna look good for you if you had actually wanted to strip Disney of, there's little special district down there in South Florida. You could have done that the moment you were first sworn into office before the don't say gay legislation even materialized, but it wasn't a big deal then. It wasn't a big deal at all until Disney spoke out against you. And it's important to remember folks that Disney's hands are not clean in this whole mess, because even after Disney was stripped of their special district, even after they had been attacked by the governor for speaking out against his legislation, their lobbyists, Disney's lobbyists still helped pay for Ron DeSantis second gubernatorial inaugural ball. So all of this, uh, fighting is a lot of it for show because Disney's people are still giving money to Ron DeSantis. They're still making sure he had a hell of a good time at his inaugural ball. Recently the Biden administration through the Department of Education, uh, put out a new set of repayment guidelines for low income Americans. Basically, it said, if you make $15 an hour or less, your student loan payment under our new repayment plan, uh, drops to $0 per month. Now that $0 per month payment is not a forgiving of your debt, like your debt still exists, you're just legally not required to pay it until you make more money and have money to pay it. That's it. This was not a student loan forgiveness plan. This was, Hey, if you're poor, we're gonna, you know, lower your payment down to $0. The payment still exists, it's just the number of the payment is $0.
This week, Republicans in the Senate led by Republican Senator Bill Cassidy, Republican Senator John Thune, and Republican Senator John Cornyn, along with 13 other Republican co-sponsors, put forth legislation to undo this move by the Biden Department of Education. They also, uh, have a companion bill in the house put forward by Republican representatives, Lisa McClain and Virginia Fox. So you've got Republicans in the house and Republicans in the Senate. Even though, by the way, the one in the Senate is not going to pass, which means there's not gonna be any reconciliation. The, the, the new rule is not actually in danger. What is in danger is the American public themselves. Because what these Republicans did this week by even putting forth this legislation is they told poor people, you. That is the only purpose of this legislation is to send a big, giant middle finger to every single working class low income American in this country. Because again, it's not forgiving student loan debt. So there's no constitutional issue here. And by the way, the Department of Education is 100% able to set the repayment guidelines based on income. This is within their authority. But here's what these idiot, poor hating Republicans said. Uh, this was Cassidy, bill Cassidy. This is what he said. Our resolution protects the 87% of Americans who don't have student debt and will be forced to shoulder the burden of president's irresponsible and unfair policy.
So Bill Cassidy, Republican, you're telling me that if a presidential administration,
Or I guess if Congress passes a bill that does not benefit or, or introduces a measure or changes a rule that does not benefit 100% of the public, that it should immediately be overturned? Because if that's the case, you can say bye-bye to your little tax breaks for the Wealthy Elite. 'cause I didn't get a tax break. Hundreds of millions of Americans didn't get a tax break, but that top 1% got a tax break. Actually, I think the top 10% got tax breaks, but that leaves 90% didn't get anything. So by your own standards, you have to repeal your tax cuts.
Sorry, I don't make the rules. I just enforce them based on your stupid talking points. So maybe you ought to revamp that before somebody with a much bigger microphone than me makes that argument in front of the entire American public. Why don't you just come out and say like, Hey, we don't want poor people to make lower student loan payments. And by the way, it doesn't drop 'em all to zero. I've already doubled down on it, but let's call this Quinn tling down on a claim that I have repeatedly made here at ring of fire. Uh, put out a story this week about Ron DeSantis meltdown over the weekend where he mentioned, uh, we're gonna fight the woke in the schools, fight the woke in the business fight. The woke woke, woke, woke, woke, woke, woke. He mentioned the word woke five times in 19 seconds. The independent pointed out five times in 19 seconds using that word woke. That means nothing.
And that's what more and more people are starting to realize when this man speaks. He says a lot of things, but he's not actually saying anything. He's throwing red meat out for the hardcore right wing base. Sure. But if you don't fall into that category, which is most of the country, you're looking at this guy saying, oh my God, if you say woke one more time, I'm gonna shove a chopstick into my ear and stab my brain because that's all he knows how to do now. Where have we seen a Republican like that before rewind the clock to 2015 Republican debates, a man by the name of Marco Rubio, Marco Rubio as Chris Christie brilliantly pointed out in those Republican debates has a set of talking points that he is literally unable to deviate from. And if you pull him off script, if you ask him a different question, Christi pointed out, he will go back to those same talking points, whether they are relevant or not. And then after Chris Christi attacked Rubio in that way, Rubio interrupted by literally repeating the same talking points. If you haven't seen that clip again recently, go back and watch it again. With somebody like Chris Christie, who is very possibly running for president and Christie calls him out and he says, define the word woke, what the hell are you talking about? In a decision that was handed out late Sunday evening, a us district judge told the Republican national committee that they cannot hide their emails from the January 6th select committee. Now, the committee had been seeking emails from the Republican national committee, the RNC, uh, related their fundraising efforts. According to multiple different new polls. Donald Trump is not looking as hot as he did just a week ago because a majority of Americans actually approve of the FBI's search and seizure down there at Mara Lago. Now just a week ago, Donald Trump of course got a bump in his personal poll numbers and a huge bump in fundraising as a result of the search down at Malago. But the public opinion polls show that one, a majority of Americans support the FBI. Two, a majority of them support this raid, which again, I don't even like using that word, but it's a lot easier than just saying search and seizure every single time. So here's the numbers folks. 54% said they were okay with the DOJs actions. Only 36% say they were not okay. 57% of Americans say they disapprove of Trump taking nuclear weapons related documents tomorrow Lago only 57.
Interesting. So, so does that mean that 43% of Americans are just like, ah, I don't care if he took nuclear documents down there, whatever this is America, you take whatever documents you want. Um, I would expect the 57 to be a much bigger number. So that's a little shocking, isn't it? Um, but then when you look at another new poll, a Reuter's I O poll, it shows that only half of the Republicans in this country, only half of them side with Donald Trump over the FBI, here it is, uh, 54% of Republican respondents said the FBI and justice department have behaved irresponsibly following the Mar Lago search compared to 23%, who said they behaved responsibly. The rest said they didn't know. So 23% said, yeah, we're okay with it. 23% said, no, no. And 54% of Republicans said, oh, I don't like what they did, but only 54% Donald Trump, isn't gonna get a big bump in the polls from only having half the Republican party say that the FBI was wrong.
And this has all happened. As I pointed out in the span of a week, just imagine what's gonna happen as more and more information continues to come out. That's why I told you earlier this week, those knee-jerk reaction polls taken immediately after the, uh, raid on Malago meant nothing. These polls do matter. And it shows that the vast majority of Americans and only half of Republicans kind of okay. Kind of not bothered by it. And I would expect that the number of Americans okay with it is going to increase dramatically. As we learn more about what Donald Trump did and which documents he took.
