PenguinSix is an apolitical guy in a political town who likes to walk a lot. He has hiked over 17,000 miles (27,000kms) in the past six years and is still walking today. He is an American expat who spent the last decade in Hong Kong with his family and is now back in Washington DC, continuing his daily ritual of taking very long hikes around the city catching the sights and sounds of the city while live streaming to share with others. History, culture, life as an expat (with reverse culture shock), and the pitiful Chinese food in Washington DC are regular topics of discussion. Just trying out Yotuube #shorts. Not sure how it works to be honest.
Anyway--bunch of snowplows tonight by the Willard Hotel next to the White House. Snowplows are used to block roads for big protests, but didn't know any were planned now.

So I didn't make a video yesterday but did manage to film a shooting that took place near my favorite BBQ and just behind the Vice President's place at the U.S. Naval Observatory. No one was hurt but police did respond in pretty big numbers. This morning, Columbus / Indigenous People's Day started with Marine One coming back from Delaware and ended with a laser light protest at the Russian Embassy by Ukranian supporters (one was arrested). I also had some lunch.
Typical Monday.

Dropped the kids off at school and then headed down Embassy Row to the White House. Saw some of the Black Lives Matter signs and then made my way into Lafayette Park for the first time in months (through a hole in the riot fences).

Today was a day of heroes, as we went around Washington seeing the last World War 2 Medal of Honor Recipient Hershel Woody Williams be given full honors at the US Capitol and World War Two memorial today. He was the last living Medal of Honor winner from the war, and his passage marks a generational milestone. Seven living Medal of Honor winners attended the ceremony, including the youngest living Medal of Honor winner Cpl. Kyle Carpenter. We also visit Arlington Cemetery, to see the grave of another Medal of Honor winner, Thomas J Hudner, and hear about his courageous devotion to his wingman, Ensign Jesse Brown. Finally there is a flyover for a Air Force General who passed just recently. Quite a day of heroes in Washington D.C.

This is the FULL RAW video of my hike the other day past the White House and up to the Capitol looking for the Governor Abbott Bus. There are minimum edits (usually me just swearing at a taxi or something like that). The highlights of this video have already premiered and are available here, but some of you wanted the full 90 minute adventure:
