It really lets in a LOT of light, I am very impressed. Started with resetting the 4x4 posts, adding all the purlins and building and installing the trusses. Trimmed the soffit and the corners using 1x3 pine and painted the entire shed with a outdoor rated paint that matches the color of the house. Painted the shed now so that I didn't have to pay attention to keeping the red roof clean or taping anything off. Installed the Ondura roof and followed that up with the Tuftex white polycarbonate light panels. Installed the heavy duty door and we were done, very, very sturdy shed and I couldn't be more pleased. Quick video showing my steps for making a simple dowel cutting jig. This can be used to make joinery dowels, arrow shafts and anything else you might want that is round! You will have to have some sort of steel stock to make this, there are other ways using a chisels and table saws that might make more accurate dowel but are a little more involved. For the 1/2" Side: Measure 7/16"(0.4275), 3/4"(0.75) and 1 1/16"(1.0625) from one side, mark a line down the center of your metal stock to mark the spots for the pilot hole. Drill three 1/8" pilot hols though each intersecting line, then open all three holes up to 1/4". Drill two 1/4" relief holes half way through the stock on opposing sides of the main hole. Lastly, drill your 1/2" hold in the center. For the 3/8" Side: Measure 1/2"(0.5), 3/4"(0.75), 1" (1.0) from one side, mark a line down the center of your metal stock to mark the spots for the pilot hole. Drill three 1/8" pilot hols though each intersecting line, then open all three holes up to 1/4". Drill two 1/4" relief holes half way through the stock on opposing sides of the main hole. For those of us that have a few clamps laying around the shop it can be a real pain in the neck to dig through a pile to get to to the clamp you want while performing a glue up. Today I built a super simple, easy clamp rack that holds all of my parallel clamps, f-style clamps and quick clamps all it one low profile location. I used lots of wood glue, the drill press, table saw and some hand drills to build this quick wood clamp rack. Now that the addition is done our car, tractor and other keys were being stored quite a ways away from the door that we use everyday. Changed that by making a car key shelf, with a drawer for miscellaneous items, that is hung under a (mural?) of the Michigan lower peninsula, aka. I began the process, like most of my projects, at the miter saw. It seems like all my projects start at the miter saw but when I actually stop and think about it the actual step is breaking larger material down into more manageable pieces, my tool of choice for that is the miter saw. For others it could be a circular saw, jig saw or even a sawzall. Once my pieces were not 8 feet long anymore I moved over to the bandsaw where I resawed the boards to maximize the yield from the wood that I was using. After resawing was complete and because the boards were pretty flat to begin with I skipped over the typical step of jointing and moved right to the planer to get things flat and parallel. I then glued up a panel for the mitten and found a usable .sgv file to import into Easel to make the cut on the CNC machine. I also used the built in app in Easel (which is a free program BTW) to create in inlay cut for the monogram G. All the parts for the shelf and drawer were cut on the table saw and box joints were cut using the John Heisz design box joint jig I made a few years ago.
