Some of our desires can lead us to a deeper experience with Jesus. However, some of our desires can also mislead us. Attending to our desires and discerning them prayerfully is an important spiritual discipline.
Levels of Commitment | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
17 He went down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coastal region around Tyre and Sidon, 18 who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by impure spirits were cured, 19 and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all. (Luke 6:17-19)
In any kind of ministry, there are different levels of commitment. We cannot expect everyone to have the same kind of commitment. We must minister to each person according to their needs. Of course, our desire must be to move people up to a higher commitment. But this depends on many factors. We cannot force it. The key is to ask the Holy Spirit to guide us so that we can minister to people according to where they are in their commitment journey.

1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register. 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. (Luke 2:1-7)
Sometimes when we think about the birth of Jesus, we only think about it as a cute story. We may add some religious meanings to it, but it is still just a nice story that we tell children during Christmas time. We don't really see it as something personal, something that can and must affect us personally. That's why it's good to revisit and ponder upon the story of the birth of Christ even though it is not yet Christmas time. Perhaps, we may be able to see how personally meaningful it is for all of us.

Main Idea: “The birth of Jesus is Good News for us personally.” (“Ang pagsilang ni Jesus ay personal na Mabuting Balita para sa atin.”)
How is the birth of Jesus personally meaningful?
Three Ways
1. Born within history: He is part of the story of humanity (vv.1-3).
2. Born through human ancestry: He is like us with a family story (vv.4-5).
3. Born in humility: He can relate with us who are ordinary (vv.6-7)

The Bible is very important for our spiritual walk and growth. Unfortunately, not everyone has an easy time reading or studying the Bible. Many people struggle due to language barriers, lack of access, or simply not having the time to study it. Despite these struggles, there are ways to overcome these obstacles.

Fasting and prayer form a powerful combination. They enhance our ability to hear God's voice and increase our chances of being heard by Him. Fasting intensifies our connection with God and creates a favorable environment for our prayers to be heard. By abstaining from food and focusing on prayer, we enter a realm of heightened spiritual sensitivity, enabling us to commune with God on a deeper level. In this sacred space, our cries and whispers capture God's attention and invite divine intervention.

Gratitude to Jesus | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Nov 3, 2022
Text: Luke 17:11-19
Everything that we do in the Christian life must be the result of gratitude to Jesus. Without gratitude, we will always struggle with obeying and serving Jesus in whatever area of our lives.

How can we develop our gratitude toward Jesus?
Three Ways
1. Recognize that we are all in need of Jesus (vv.11-13).
2. Recognize that we are all healed through Jesus (vv.14-16).
3. Recognize that we are all saved to serve Jesus (vv.17-19)
Central Idea: “Faith in Jesus results in gratitude to Jesus.” (“Ang pananampalataya kay Jesus ay nagbubunga ng pasasalamat kay Jesus.”)

It's hard when we go through tests of our faith, especially when it leads to failure on our part. We naturally feel ashamed and guilty. But why would God allow these things to happen in the first place?

True Worship | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2)
Christians are normally eager to worship. Each one has his or her own preference. Younger ones love contemporary worship styles using modern instruments. Older people love hymns usually with organ or piano only. Sometimes the reverse is true. But most people judge the quality of worship based on its effects on their feelings. Churches can either attract or repel people based on their worship services. But few Christians understand what true worship is all about.
