Fix your iPhone smartphone charging and data cable. Try this fix to prevent damage to your data and charging cable. Easy way to fix the iPhone charging cable at home with no special tools. You can fix your iPhone, iPad, Android tablet or Android smartphone with just a lighter and heat shrink tubing. This works for all charging Lightning and mini USB, micro USB, USB 3.1, Type-C, USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and in general any cable that is almost broken. For cables of iPad and Android included and could be used for the headphone jack too! For this you need heat shrink tubing and a small lighter. That's all! The heat shrink tubing can be found in electronics stores or online. A lighter can be found anywhere. :) Repair your charger cable, don't throw it away! This works only if the cable still functions but the plastic around the cable is damaged from long term use. If your cable does not charge anymore, it needs to be opened. It feels porous in a way like some of the material is coming off the case but it's not. I really hope the material wars out a bit and feels less spongy. I actually cleaned the back of the case hoping it's some residual material that can be removed. It's not, it's just how the material is, spongy.
