Are you focusing on who you are becoming or are you just busy doing all sorts of activities, even activities for God?

Text: Psalm 28:1-9
There is always something evil or wrong that is going on all around us. But sometimes it affects us directly or personally. How do we respond? Some people will just get mad and retaliate. Others will just keep quiet and not do anything. But as believers, we need to understand how to respond in a way that is pleasing to God.

Central Idea: “As believers, we respond to wrongdoing by doing what is right and good.” (“Bilang mga mananampalataya, tumutugon tayo sa mali sa pamamagitan ng paggawa ng tama at mabuti.”)
How do we respond to wrongdoing that affects us personally?
Five Ways
1. Call on God for help (vv.1-2).
2. Ask God to repay those who are doing wrong (vv.3-4).
3. Trust in God's justice and timing (v.5).
4. Praise God for His help (vv.6-7).
5. Intercede for others (vv.8-9).

Dark Night of the Soul | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
1 How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? 3 Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, 4 and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall. 5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. 6 I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me. (Psalm 13:1-6)
One of the most difficult experiences in the Christian life is when you feel like God is absent or far away. Those who go through such experiences describe it as confusing, difficult, doubtful, depressing, etc. Those who are more experienced in the spiritual life call it the "dark night of the soul". It's a temporary experience that can result in either deeper faith or unbelief, even backsliding. Sooner or later, we will all experience this as part of God's pruning or cleansing of our character. Therefore, we must learn how to navigate a "dark night of the soul".

It is a challenge to talk about religion and politics because these topics are often very sensitive and can be controversial. People often have very strong opinions about religion and politics and are not willing to compromise or see things from different perspectives. This can lead to heated debates and disagreements that can be difficult to navigate or negotiate. But it's always helpful to know what Jesus taught about politics. Perhaps, He alone can bring about the right balance to resolve the disagreements.

A Pilgrim's Perspective | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Oct 11, 2022
Text: Psalm 39:1-13
Having the proper perspective in life can help all of us live with wisdom in this mad world. Those who do not have the proper view eventually get swallowed up by the world's system. When life has no meaning other than what everyone else in the world is striving for, we become anxious and stressed out. But when we have a "pilgrim's perspective" in life, we experience God's peace and enjoy it.

It's a common misbelief of people to trust too much on their willpower. They think that all they need to do to change anything in their lives is through their resolve. Our willpower is essential but it's not all-powerful. Other aspects of our being, other than willpower, affect our lives.
