Session # 2 FOCUS Me: On Who You are as God God’s Pathway to Always Pleasing God with My Life 1. FOCUS Me: on Who You are as God: v.9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. • God wants me to constantly remind myself of just Who it is I am talking to. • John 1:1-3 (Creator), • John 5:28 (Judge); • Col. 1:15-16 (Sustainer); • Hebrews 1:3 (Exact Representation of God), who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, • Hebrews 11:3 (Framed the Universe with a word!). • This One holds in His Hand my life’s breath (Daniel 5:23). • He has told me that life eternal is when I KNOW Him (John 17:3). 2. CONTROL Me: because You have the Plan for my life. v. 10a Your kingdom come. 3. LEAD Me: so I Do Your Will with my life. v. 10b Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. 4. SUPPLY Me: so I can see Your Hand in my life. v. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 5. CLEANSE Me: so I keep Your Blessing on my life. v. 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 6. PROTECT Me: so I don’t lose Your Power in my life. v. 13a And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. 7. EMPTY Me: so You get all the credit for my life. v. 13b For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen Now, join me as we simply use the Word of God to turn our minds' eye above, and focus upon Who it is we are talking to as we Pray! Look first at Revelation 4:6. The Throne, The Fire and The Crowns When we gather as we do today, and open God’s Word, we are asking Him to speak to us. Sometimes what we hear touches on a small part of our lives, other times what He says is huge. This evening, the topic we have arrived at to study is HUGE. The only way to understand the gravity of what we are hearing from God's Word today is to go to where it will matter. That is why we have opened to the end of the Bible, Revelation 4. 3—WHEN DEMONS ARE ALLOWED TO BECOME PREDATORS INFLICTING TORTURES: Revelation 9:3-6—The locusts are demonic creatures that John struggles to describe, having to use the word “like” 9x to do so. Like scorpions, they paralyze victims with pain like real scorpions that can cause foaming at the mouth and grinding of the teeth in response to their venom. Like those real locusts on Earth that have a 5-month lifespan from May to September, God limits this judgment also to just 5 months. Angels are Supernatural & Super Powerful Creatures. As far as we know the angelic creatures are indestructible, they can’t be killed or destroyed. They travel the universe effortlessly, with no spaceships. They seemingly never rest, or sleep, or even need to eat. Each of the angels we read about in God's Word has power that exceeds anything we can humanly understand as possible by the laws of the physical world that we know. Finding Comfort in Painful Times Five thousand years ago – before the pyramids were finished in Egypt, while ice covered most of northern Europe and glaciers towered over the Los Angeles basin, a man named Job lived in the ancient world of the Bible Lands. Listen to these words, spoken to Job by one of his three prosecuting friends, perfectly captured and flawlessly recorded in this priceless treasury – God's Word! Job 5.7 is the effort of the three false comforting friends of Job. They were trying to pin down the cause of Job’s painful condition. They attached an accusation of sin upon him. As they were doing this, they said something powerfully true. Open with me to Job 5.7. Pain is as much a part of life as breathing, eating, and sleeping. We enter this world painfully crushed and twisted through the birth canal. We depart this world painfully by age and decay, trudging through the valley of the shadow of death. Most of us really don’t like physical or emotional pain. North Americans consume over thirty thousand tons of aspirin a year. North Americans, who only represent 5 percent of the world’s population, consume over 50% of all manufactured drugs, one-third of which work on the central nervous system. We are the most advanced society in the world in terms of suppressing pain. Yet the more we try to shut down pain, the more pain seems to surround our lives. What we really need is not less pain, but a better solution for dealing with it. So of all the lessons of the Word Filled Life – Living that life in Painful Times may be the most relevant of all! THE SCROLL CONTAINS THE PLAN OF GOD FOR EARTH’S FUTURE & THE ANSWER TO CENTURIES OF PRAYERS: Revelation 5:7— Most likely this scroll is the same scroll we see in Ezekiel 2:9-10 and Daniel 12:4.
