Dr. Peter M. Dr. Fleischut also led efforts to standardize care across NYP’s ten hospitals and hundreds of clinics and doctor practices, and oversaw all aspects of Graduate Medical Education (GME) for programs across the NYP enterprise.
Joining NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell in 2006, Dr. Fleischut previously served as Medical Director of Operating Rooms, Deputy Quality Patient Safety Officer, founding Director of the Center for Perioperative Outcomes, Vice Chairman, Chief Medical Information Officer, Chief Innovation Officer and Chief Medical Operating Officer.
In 2016, Dr. Fleischut became Vice Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medical College, where he is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology. He is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College and the Wharton Program for Working Professionals at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Fleischut has received numerous awards and honors, including NewYork-Presbyterian’s Physician of the Year, Modern Healthcare Up and Comers, Becker’s Hospital Review 40 under 40, and the American Telehealth Association President’s Award.
NYP is a nonprofit academic medical center in New York City affiliated with two Ivy League medical schools, Cornell University and Columbia University. Established in 1960, inspired by a few local women who saw the need in their community and decided to deliver meals to their elderly neighbors, Meals on Wheels has now added technology platforms to track and monitor the total health, safety and well-being of program participants throughout the region.
In the last year nearly 500,000 meals were delivered to seniors who are not able to leave their homes, by over 3,000 volunteers, who not only delivered nutritious meals, but provided safety checks for local home bound seniors.
Meals on Wheels plays a vital role in allowing our senior population to age in place, enjoying the comforts of their own homes.
Brent is a native San Diegan and has spent more than two decades working for nonprofits, most recently for the Salk Institute, leading their fundraising efforts for the Harnessing Plants Initiative to use plants to lower global greenhouse gases.
Prior to that, he worked in fundraising as the chief development officer at Serving Seniors and as Director of Development & External Relations, UC San Diego School of International Relations & Pacific Studies.

AOML's research spans tropical cyclone and hurricanes, coastal ecosystems, oceans and human health, climate studies, global carbon systems, and ocean observations. It is one of ten NOAA Research Laboratories.
