Dr Andrew Manns is a historian and the creator behind The Thinker’s Garden, a blog specialising in overlooked history. As editor, he has written and published a variety of historiettes on little-known Bohemians, occultists, and mystics, such as the “Los Angeles Noah” (Reverend J.E. Lewis), Lady Walburga Paget, and Baron Seymour Kirkup. Today takes us through his research into the little known folklore and occult history of the Auvergne a little-known historic province in central
France. Which he has dubbed the ‘Transylvania of France’.
In the Plus show we get into the legends of Lake Pavin (the storm-raising lake). An interesting angle on the lost children plane crash from Colombia story from earlier in the year. And Andrew tells us about the unique healing tradition of the “Guerisseurs” which is absolutely fascinating. Andrew wraps up with an interesting note on the belief in the area that fairies can be seen at a certain high altitude.
The story about the "Two Lovers" (the Clermont-Ferrand senator who rose from the dead to lie by his wife) can actually be found in Historia Francorum, a book by Gregory of Tours https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregory_of_Tours
The name of the vampire-like female spirits is: "fatsillères"
Two stories from Lady Wilde's book 'Ancient legends of Ireland'. These stories feature the common themes of the 'Dark horseman' trickster that leads the protagonist awry and is quite unnecessarily cruel and spiteful on travellers he meets along the road. The stories include the visit to the fairy palace and all its beauty and joy and then things take a darker turn and the human visitor gets an unpleasant supernatural brush with death.
The stories propose that the reason for this unnecessary cruelty is a grudge the fairy folk have against humanity, much like the Djinn. I then breifly discuss the startlingly similar origin myths of the Fairies and Djinn.

Today we will be exploring the work of explorer Kira Salak and her experiences in Libya regarding the ‘The Fortress of the Jinn' or Kaf Ajnoun.
Kaf Ajnoun is a jagged ridge with several peaks, the largest being The Qala'a (castle), along the Libya/Algeria border near the town of Ghat by the Akakus Massif. As it is in the Sahara, the native peoples are the nomads of the Tuareg and Tibu tribes.
Looking like a haunted citadel crowned with a magical fortress-like summit, the mountain was thus assumed the abode of mythical beings. According to Berber Tuareg mythology the ‘The Fortress of the Jinn' was once a "Hall of Council", where genies met to discuss their affairs.
According to the explorer Hugh Clapperton, who visited the area in 1822, some of the inhabitants of the mountain, apparently with red hair, were heard to beat their drums at night and fire their muskets.
Adventurer and traveller Kira Salak who followed the trail of Hugh Clapperton climbed to the summit with her photographer friend Bobby Model. She reached the top and back safely without any encounters; but according to her around 18 months later, during an Ayahuasca session in Peru she discovered she had been possessed by evil spirits that "entered her body when, against the warnings of the local tribesmen, she climbed a supposedly haunted mountain in Libya". The possession and subsequent exorcism will be detailed in the Plus show.

Ivo Domínguez Jr, is an author, teacher, and ritualist. In the show we discuss some of his foundational experiences that set him out on his journey. Before getting on to his new book, The four elements of the Wise, an in-depth exploration of the elements, their lore, history, correspondences, and use in spellwork and ritual.
The four elements are the pillars that uphold the manifest world and anchor spirit to matter. They are associated with a wide range of spiritual entities, from small elementals to divine beings.
This book explores the consciousness of the elements, which provides a system of understanding that supports most of the magic of the West and paganism.
In the Plus show we get into some of Ivo’s incredible experiences including a spontaneous possession by Ogun, a student's attempt to summon something a bit above their pay grade and the nature of Spirit communication and the ability of spirits to read the deeper levels of our consciousness.
Enjoy.

This weeks show is pulling out the more interesting and relevant elements of Abderraouf Ben Halima's book, 'The Roqya: Treatment of sorcery, jinn and evil eye by the Quran and prophetic medicine'
It outlines the actual practices of Jinn and Sorcery removal, how Jinn enter the body and the tools used to negotiate with a Jinn to ensure its departure. It also covered Roohans, which are somewhere between a Jinn and an Angel:
"Roohans are jinns very close to angels by their light, because they worship Allah permanently. Some roohans occur in some people's lives to compel them to pious behavior or to bring them wealth in exchange of zikrs,"
The nature of Jinn, in terms of the essence is discuss and makes for some interesting food for thought. There is also a brief piece on the evil eye, how it occurs and its treatment.
