The battle is little-known outside of South Africa, but it was a major defeat of the Communist Forces in Angola (MPLA and the Cubans). The accuracy of the South African artillery was outstanding, dominating the area but it was a hard-fought battle. Their efforts made capturing the bridge enabling Foxbat Combat Group (armour) to continue the advance northwards.
