Bakhmut is one of the oldest cities in Donetsk region. It was founded by Ivan the Terrible in 1571 as a frontier Bakhmut outpost on a Bakhmutka River.

For a long time, the soldiers of the Red Army, with a great deal of irony, called the American stew "The Second Front". The stew was tasty, it was delivered regularly, but the real Second Front was all postponed.
Why was it opened only in the summer of 1944? This was due to the fact that the landing in France was to be successful on the first attempt. The history of the Second Front is a story about solving seemingly unsolvable technical and logistic problems. The experience of the allies once again proved the old truth: victory cannot be bought, it can be won with sweat and blood.
