A short clip from the Ajax academy but a nice little technical exercise without pressure to allow the players to perfect the dribbling technique and 1v1 moves. This a simple, intense technical training exercise that is quite common at Dutch academies and is an extremely important part of training at Ajax, particularly with the younger players. Being creative and dominant in the 1v1 situation is of high importance at de Toekomst. ‘de Toekomst’ means ‘the future’ and it is the name of the Ajax academy.
There are 7 cones need for the setup. The blue cones mark out a square. Two white cones are extended beyond the opposite ends of the square, about 3 or 4 yards. Finally, there is one white cone in the in the center of the square.
There are two lines of players facing each other. Ideally, each player should have a ball. At the trainers signal the first player in each line dribbles at the center cone performs a scissors/stepover then exits towards the far corner to his right. Once at the corner, the players perform an outside-hook turn before dribbling to the back of the opposite line.

Another simple, yet effective, passing and receiving exercise from Atletico’s academy. This was done before their UEFA Youth League match vs Genk, from Belgium.
As always, take note of the finer points here. First, when receiving, notice that the players are not simply controlling/stopping the ball but preparing it in the direction of the next pass. The players are preparing the ball to the opposite side of the cone or pole at which they received it. Its intentional and its clean.
Note how the players run directly to the pole before moving quickly away from it to receive the ball, as if checking away from a defender.
As for the passing, notice that all passes are being played to the right foot. The players at the cones are receiving and passing with only the right foot. The players at the poles are receiving with the right but are passing with the left. It is a ‘surface specific’ exercise.
After a certain amount of time, the exercise would go in the opposite direction with all passes being played to the left food.
Also note the intensity and tempo of this exercise.

It was called a draw but who really won though?? Comment below.
Could this technically be considered 'decision making'?? lol. Either way this is something a little different and, more importantly, the players seem to enjoy.
