The LMS constructed a total of 195 engines for this class, in addition to the 45 Midland Railway 1000 Class locomotives, which were nearly identical. One notable distinction was the smaller driving wheel diameter on the LMS version compared to the Midland Railway variant. These locomotives were taken out of service between 1952 and 1961.
