A down to earth and honest look at what the trends are fast becoming- how it showcases some "glitzy" "showbiz" form of shamanism that's disconnected from the reality and, fast becoming idolized as some glamorous version of itself. The truth about shamanism is really quite simple, and there is "no" shamanic "doctrine" as advertised by book-vendors touting shamanism for the next big-money best seller. As a shaman it is strange for me to see these books that seem so disconnected from shamanism becoming so popular and, spreading a "shamanic culture" that really seems devoid of any shamanism. That shamanism cant exactly be taught, since there are no hard and fast rules, has been forgotten and this fast growing "cult" of frenzied worshipers are out 'evangelizing' in the name of false teachings spread by people that had interests in shamanism, though lacked the foundation of real practice, turning it into some "western-styled" discipline that fast took hold through the books they published. It has thus become a circus of the blind leading the blind and it;s fast becoming indoctrinated by miss-understood concepts that were turned into a belief-system by eager and hungry "would-be-shaman" - writers that spread the exoteric forms of a highly esoteric discipline. The people touting this also often rely upon entheogenic substances to get a quick sneak-preview of the real shamanic process and, so DMT, Ayahuaska and the like have become synonymous with "shamanism" to the detriment of many that sadly suffer delusion as result, while learning nothing about shamanism. It pays to remember that shamanism isn't taught by people, books or words, for its a devotion to nature and, she reveals when the shaman is ready, through the inner process unlocked by trance. Other shaman can lead one to the ocean, but one needs to swim by ones own volition- this has always been the way of the shaman. It's a personal journey.
