If you can, mine next to your ship so if you die you can easily retrieve your lost gear. Mine a crap ton of iron (insert max unit here) Try to upgrade your gun so you mine faster If you must fight use bolt caster (Duh) Once you have a full inventory worth of iron DON'T SELL IT Craft Carite sheets Obviously that means you need 1 slot empty If you can craft a bypass key, they are worth so much more but keep in mind they will drain your plutonium. Repeat until filthy rich. Have fun being rich, don't spend it all at the galactic strip club.
