Much like Donald Trump's first indictment a couple months ago. His second indictment, this past week, has caused all of his Republican rivals, except of course, Chris Christie, uh, to come out and talk about how horrible it is that the Department of Justice is going after poor, old, innocent Donald Trump. Ron DeSantis came out, issued this great big grand statement about the weaponization of the Department of Justice and how horrible it is, what they're doing to his poor little friend Donald Trump, who is attacking him mercilessly at every possible opportunity. So it's funny to see these Republicans essentially cuck themselves to defend the guy that is ruthlessly attacking them. But even before the indictment was handed down, you had people like Mike Pence, who of course is officially in the race as of this week, who during his CNN Town Hall this week, cuz apparently they're still doing those. Mike Pence actually suggested that indicting Donald Trump again, this was a couple days before the indictment came out, indicting Trump could somehow destroy the very fabric of the United States of America. Here's what Mike Pence said. This kind of action by the Department of Justice, I think would only fuel further division in the country we're the symbol of justice in the world. And the serious matter, which has already happened once in New York of indicting a former president of the United States, sends a terrible message to the world. I hope the DOJ thinks better of it and resolves these issues without an indictment. So I love how he says we're the symbol of justice in the world. And then he immediately says, and if we do justice, I mean, my God, what kind of message does that send to the rest of the world? Right? They view us as being the capital of justice. Can you imagine how horrible it would be if we actually did that? Right? Mike Trump Wanted you dead. He wanted you to die on January 6th, Mike, and you are still out there defending him. You know what he did? You were there when he did the horrible things that he did, and he hasn't even been indicted for those horrible things yet. And here you are in that town hall saying, oh my God, it was just gonna fuel division in this country. Well then I guess we can't have criminal justice anymore, can we? I mean, we've seen division in this country because cops just decide to kill unarmed black people all the time that divides the country. I don't see you calling for abolishing the police. I don't see you calling for taking away the deadly weapons that police carry on them. No. Okay. You only care about division when it's Republicans that are gonna get their feelings hurt. Got it. Just wanted to double check with you on that one. But here's the thing, Mike, think of the message it would send to the rest of the world if we find out that Donald Trump committed crimes and we don't hold him accountable. And you can talk about division all you want. The only people that are off are the MAGA hat wearing freaks in this country. And by the way, they represent a minority even within the Republican party itself. So we're talking about a fraction of a fraction of a portion of the population. The majority of people in this country wanted to see Donald Trump. Indicted polls have shown that for weeks, majority of them believe that he committed a crime. And you know what? The mass media doesn't seem to care. They're just whistling through the graveyard aren't they? That's what amazes me is the arrogance. The absolute arrogance of mass media to say, so what? We don't care. Fox is gonna say, so what? If they don't like it, they go to turn to the other channel. MSNBC, CNN, so what? We don't care that trust in media is at an all time low to where people have zero, zero trust in what the media is saying. Yeah. More than a third of the country right now says, no, the mass media, newspapers, cable news, it's lies. It's nonstop lies. 40% of the country is saying that. And here's the thing, what's funny about this is CNN was recently given, obviously when they changed leadership and they got rid of Cuomo because of what they were having him do with his brother, all that, CNN had the opportunity to do the right thing. To finally get back on track. And then of course, Ukraine, Israel. So they, oh, well, we gotta bring out our generals. We gotta bring out our defense contractors. Not to tell 'em not to report the news, but to report propaganda. Yeah. So they immediately went right back into that cycle where they lost all their trust, which was back in 2004 or even before that, pushing the Iraq war. They fall into these same traps because at the end of the day, for them, it's not about telling the truth. It's about telling enough of a story to sell some advertisements. That's what it is. You know, of course, I was a journalism major, a news editing major at University of Florida and it's interesting, between 1972 and 1997 when I was in school there, or part of those years anyway, the trust level was 72 to 75%. How does it possibly fall to where it is right now, 27%? How do you get there? I don't know. But to me, you have, it's this arrogance. The arrogance is just phenomenal. It is, well, we own the house. We're gonna do what we want to do. It's, we recognize it's not news, it's propaganda, it's entertainment. We know it's not news. But it's almost like they don't think it through and say, okay, where does this leave journalism? Who the hell wants to be a journalist nowadays? I mean, really, who the hell wants to say, I'm gonna go to school? Because first of all, any type of investigative journalism is over. You got the Lever. We talk about the Lever all the time. That's real journalism. But that's so rare. There's some other organizations. The Intercept is a good one. Intercept is a great example. But the fact that we can list all of them On one hand Yeah. Shows us that the whole thing is essentially dead. Yeah. That's where we go to for our stories and it's just good stuff because they're real journalists really working. But to say a kid coming outta school right now, say, really, what an honorable profession. I really wanna be a journalist. You wanna be a pimp. That's what you wanna be. If you wanna move into a journal, you wanna be a pimp for some corporate entity. That's all it is.
