Session #46: Using built-in Axure functions to get current date and time
In this session I'll walk you through key steps on using prebuilt Axure functions. We will make a quick timezone switch prototype that pick up the current time of the computer, as well as the current date. As with everything in Axure this is yet another thing that makes it a power tool when it comes to UX prototyping.

In this video I'll walk you through key takeaways from one of the best books for UX, product and innovation ideations -- A technique for producing ideas by James Webb Young.
This simple book highlights 3 core principles when it comes to idea generation as well as 5 steps to coming up with ideas that are great. Needless to say any experience design, design sprints and ideations can be shaped around this. Check by key takeaways and how I apply it in the video.
As usual, be sure to pick up this small, but mighty book: https://amzn.to/2E2XzHU

The other day I helped one of the people I coach in UX to figure out how to easily asses between the two job offers they received. It came down to 3 root factors that I thought would also benefit any other growing or established designer who might find themselves at the crossroads. I'll also share a few cautionary tales from the past, that could help you position yourself best in the next UX, product design or user research role.

You've asked for it, so here it is... 2020 edition of the latest and greatest UX and product design prototyping tool walkthrough.
As a designer (product, UX etc.) you probably found it hard to keep up with every single tool in the market. Every year there is a brand new tool that allows designers to craft their prototypes in a different way. In this video, I'll walk you through a handful of criteria/principles (consistent from the previous video) that allow me to pick the right UX tool for the right project, budget, occasion etc. You'll also find out my thinking behind evaluating which tools are worth the time to invest and learn based on asymmetrical opportunity/Lindy effect.
The tools I'm walking through:
Figma, UXpin, Justininmind, Sketch, Axure RP, Adobe XD, Principle App, Flinto, Draftium, Invision, Invision Studio, FramerX, Supernova Studio, Marvel, Webflow, Protopie, Proto.io, Atomic and the Origami Studio.
As mentioned in the video, here's a public read-only Miro board: https://miro.com/app/board/o9J_kxk7mGU=/
Based on where the tools take us, this will be a living document that I am to maintain going forward.
Did I miss a tool you swear by? Drop the line below and I might include in the future videos.

Episode 37: Best Starter Kit for a New Design System?
This week’s pick: Details design system. A kit that I've used to start scalable and powerful UI and product design systems in an Atomic Design framework for quite some time. Details kit provides a simple yet structured starter for any designer to customise. Better yet, you can download Sketch and/or Figma version of their Atoms (and some of the molecules) for free. It doesn't get better than this, especially if you've been planning to create a decent system for one of your products or services.
Note: we're not affiliated with the tool makers. It's just a great UX tool you should know about.
In this new weekly UX design, user research and product design tools series I'll share some of the best picks I've encountered to date. You'll find out about the best apps, extensions, websites and other helpful tools.

Animated UI and 3D Mockups App - Design Tool Tuesday, Ep4
In this new weekly UX design, user research and product design tools series I'll share some of the best picks I've encountered to date. You'll find out about the best apps, extensions, websites and other helpful tools.
This weeks pick: Rotato. A UX tool that allows you to create 3D UI mockups out of your existing product designs (UX/UI). It also packs an impressive and easy to use animation features that will make any promo video appear amazing. I was truly impressed by this affordable and surprisingly muscley design app. It basically replaces the Cinema 4D when it comes to 3D device preview mockups.
