Both the Synco M3 mic and the Takstar SGC-698 produce great sounding audio. However, there are unique advantages to both that I discuss to help you select the best option for you. The Takstar SGC-698 uses a small flat CR2025 battery and does not have an always-on LED light to let you know the mic is powered on. A quick flash of the LED light lets you know it was powered on, then the red LED light disappears. The Takstar also has a hard-wired cable that is not swappable if it gets damaged. No audio monitoring port is present. The Synco M3 uses two triple-A batteries, which are easier to get a hold of in a pinch. It also has an always-on green LED light to let you know it is powered on. You can use a TRS or TRRS cable on the Synco as it lets you swap cables easily. A 3.5 mm headphone jack is present to let you allow monitor audio. The Takstar allows you to adjust the gain by -10, 0, and +20 dB. The Synco MC allows you to adjust the gain by -10, 0, and +10 dB. The Takstar is an almost all-metal build, which makes it heavy. The Synco M3 is mostly all plastic in build and is quite light. The Takstar is a much shorter unit, whereas the Synco M3 protrudes much more from the camera body.
