***"Cocteau Twins"*** was a Scottish band active from 1979 to 1997. They were formed in Grangemouth by ***[Robin Guthrie](https://cutt.ly/tvKpRaT)*** (guitars, drum machine) and ***[Will Heggie](https://cutt.ly/nvKpOu1)*** (bass), adding ***[Elizabeth Fraser](https://cutt.ly/AvKpDfq)*** (vocals) in 1981 and replacing Heggie with multi-instrumentalist ***[Simon Raymonde](https://cutt.ly/CvKpJR8)*** in 1983.
The group earned critical praise for their ethereal, effects-laden sound and the vocals of Fraser, whose lyrics often abandon recognisable language, than on the subjective sounds and textures of verbalized emotions. They pioneered the 1980s alternative rock subgenre of dream pop.
***"Milk & Kisses"*** is the eighth and final studio album by ***"Cocteau Twins"***, issued by ***"Fontana Records"*** in March 1996.
The album finds the band in a comfortable rut, they've created, and now perfected, a style of music so distinctive that there seems to be little recent creative growth. The result is a beautiful, lush, but somewhat dated and unengaging sounding album that tends to wash over the listener without making any real impact.
It is, however, everything that a ***"Cocteau Twins"*** album promises - hypnotic, dreamy, awash in ethereal voices, and delicate, liquid guitars. Necessary for diehards and potentially interesting to those that have never heard the band before, ***"Milk & Kisses"*** says nothing, but says it beautifully.
***”Serpentskirt”*** is the second song on ***”Cocteau Twins”** eighth and the last album **"[Milk & Kisses](https://cutt.ly/YvLJeZx)"**.

# ***The Blur Biography***
***Blur*** are an English rock band, formed in *[London](https://cutt.ly/lIPfkyL)* in 1988. The group consists of singer ***[Damon Albarn](https://cutt.ly/kIOpffK)***, guitarist ***[Graham Coxon](https://cutt.ly/MIOpgnF)***, bassist ***[Alex James](https://cutt.ly/oIOpkoU)*** and drummer ***[Dave Rowntree](https://cutt.ly/2IOpxaQ)***.
Following an image makeover in the mid-'90s, the group emerged as the most popular band in the U.K., establishing itself as heir to the English guitar pop tradition of ***[The Kinks](https://cutt.ly/fIPfT16)***, ***[The Small Faces](https://cutt.ly/KIPfOYh)***, ***[The Who](https://cutt.ly/FIPfJK5)***, ***[The Jam](https://cutt.ly/XIPglkh)***, ***[Madness](https://cutt.ly/CIPgCC3)***, and ***[The Smiths](https://cutt.ly/GIPg0k0)***. In the process, the group broke down the doors for a new generation of guitar bands that became labelled as *[britpop](https://cutt.ly/dIPg7M8)*.
Through some reinvention, ***Blur*** reclaimed their position as an art pop band in the late '90s by incorporating *indie rock* and *lo-fi* influences, which finally gave them their elusive American success in 1997.
But the band's legacy remained in Britain, where they helped revitalise *guitar pop* by skillfully updating the country's pop traditions.
> Continuing the stylistic shift away from the britpop sound of the band's early career, ***Blur’s*** sixth studio album, ***“13”*** explores experimental, *psychedelic* and *electronic* music.
> Lyrically, the album is significantly darker and more innovative than band’s previous efforts, being heavily inspired by ***Albarn's*** breakup with long-term girlfriend, ***[Justine Frischmann](https://cutt.ly/oIGnYHN)*** ***[("Elastica")](https://cutt.ly/EIMHztd)***.
>
> ***”13”*** is a strange, frustrating combination of expert musicianship and self-indulgence that reveals the sound of a band trying to find itself. With some closer editing, this could have been the emotionally deep, sonically wide album ***Blur*** yearns to make.

***"Stereolab"*** are an English-French avant-pop band formed in London in 1990.
Led by the songwriting team of ***[Tim Gane](https://cutt.ly/BmFnRwl)*** (guitar and keyboards) and ***[Lætitia Sadie](https://cutt.ly/dmFnYuG)r***(vocals, keyboards and guitar), the group's music combines influences from *krautrock*, *lounge* and *1960s pop music*, often incorporating a repetitive motorik beat with heavy use of vintage electronic keyboards and female vocals sung in English and French.
Their lyrics have political and philosophical themes influenced by the ***[Surrealist](https://cutt.ly/imFnOlx)*** and ***[Situationist](https://cutt.ly/ymFnAt5)*** movements.
Although ***"Stereolab"*** found success in the underground music scene and were influential enough to spark a renewed interest in older analogue instruments, they have never had a significant commercial impact. Meaby the key is lost in the interview where ***Gane*** and ***Sadier*** have discussed their musical philosophy - *"to be unique for us was more important than to be good"*.
The ***"Electrically Possessed"*** collection's nine-year span covers nearly half of the band's career - by contrast, the original ***”[Switched On](https://cutt.ly/3m9ifx0)”*** gathered just six months' worth of music - but like the other volumes in the series, it captures the flavor of its era just as completely as ***”Stereolab”*** full-lengths.
Much of the rest of ***”Switched On, Vol. 4”*** consists of limited-edition tour singles that the band recorded at ***Gane*** and ***Laetitia*** computer-based home studio, which they built after they fell in love with digital recording while making 1997's ***”[Dots and Loops](https://cutt.ly/Mm9iHCw)”***.
While there might not be quite as many essential tracks here as on the other ***”Switched On”*** volumes, ***”Electrically Possessed”*** is a reminder that the band were releasing so much good music that it was easy to take it for granted at the time, and it's well worth a listen for fans who may have missed or glossed over these songs when they were first released.
***”Nomus Et Phusis”*** is the fourth song on the band's compilation album, ***”[Electrically Possessed (Switched On Volume 4](https://cutt.ly/rm9oDIH))”***, released on 26 February 2021 under ***"[Duophonic Records](https://cutt.ly/ym2ckxS)"*** and ***"[Warp Records](https://cutt.ly/fm2I5Tp)"***.
It collects the band's rarities spanning from 1999. to 2008., and is the fourth of their ***"Switched-On"*** compilation series.

"***New Order***"are an English rock band formed in 1980 by vocalist and guitarist ***[Bernard Sumner](https://cutt.ly/9b9XrVA)***, bassist ***[Peter Hook](https://cutt.ly/9b9XrVA)*** and drummer ***[Stephen Morris](https://cutt.ly/eb9XiCi)***. The band formed after the demise of post-punk band ***"[Joy Division](https://cutt.ly/eb9XiCi)"***, following the suicide of lead singer ***Ian Curtis***; they were joined by ***[Gillian Gilbert](https://cutt.ly/mb9XsDe)*** on keyboards later that year.
***”New Order's”*** integration of post-punk with electronic and dance music made them one of the most acclaimed and influential bands of the 1980s.
Embracing the electronic textures and disco rhythms of the underground club culture many years in advance of its contemporaries, the group's pioneering fusion of new wave aesthetics and dance music successfully bridged the gap between the two worlds, creating a distinctively thoughtful and oblique brand of synth pop appealing equally to the mind, body, and soul.
Compared to previous album's half-hearted songwriting and rote sound, ***”Lost Sirens”*** positively shines - leading to the customary questions of why this material didn't replace several, if not many, songs on the original Sirens' Call.
Most of the excitement is due to the lead-off track ***"[I'll Stay with You](https://cutt.ly/XnurK4D)"*** a solid rocker that sounds like it should've been their comeback single after 2001's energizing ***”[Get Ready](https://cutt.ly/6nevj06)”***.
As on much of their work of the 2000s, guitar is forefront and synths are used only for texture, but with excellent results, led by the mid tempo storm of "Hellbent" (the only previously unreleased track, which appeared on a 2005 hits collection).
Whether we’ll ever see ***”New Order”*** as a ‘complete’ entity again remains to be seen, ***”Lost Sirens”*** makes for a welcome parting shot; a sugared pill to take before slipping away into happy dreams where Bizarre Love Triangle plays from now until eternity.
***”Shake It Up”*** is the sixth song on the band’s ninth studio album ***"[Lost Sirens](https://cutt.ly/Vnevnc3)"***, released on 11 January 2013 by ***"Rhino Entertainment"***.

The band’s second album, ***"Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements"*** is one of the most eclectic and experimental releases in ***Stereolab*** early career, emphasizing the group's elongated Krautrock jams, instrumentals, and harsh, noisy moments.

Before the Internet, ***[MTV](https://bit.ly/3jcdpnE)***, and iPods provided far-off music fans with information and communities-and before ***[Nirvana](https://bit.ly/38z4cDX)***-kids across the world grew up in relative isolation, dependent on mixtapes and self-created art to slowly spread scenes and trends.
It was under these conditions that four young musicians found one another in *[Boston, Massachusetts](https://bit.ly/36UGUIk)*, and started a band called ***[Pixies](https://bit.ly/3JgF3dF)***.
During their initial seven-year career, ***Pixies*** would play some of Europe's most gigantic festivals, keep the press guessing, and cultivate a fervid international fan base hungry for more and more of their unique *surf punk*.
The band worked fast, cranking out four albums at a breakneck pace, but ultimately pressures and personality clashes took their toll: ***Pixies*** broke up just as bands were singing their praises as the rock'n'roll innovators.
