In the final part of our overview of Unclean Machine, we take a look at the effects section from this sonic extension from Spectrasonics. This extension comes with over 2,000 sounds and 210 new sound sources for you to play with. Each patch comes with 5 scenes or variations, with a 6th slot for you to store your very own tweaks to the patch.
The two effects you get with this extension are unclean channel and unclean reverb. The reverb speaks for itself and provides instant lo-fi vibes to your sound. The channel adds nice grit and provides a nostalgic vibe.

I've been promising a mod envelope tutorial for some time now. Today is the day and I thought I would do it in a fun way. Instead of going through every single parameter, I thought it would be interesting to design a patch.
The Berlin School sequences are based on quick repeated notes. These are known at ratchets. Omnisphere has this already built into the arpeggiator section and calls them step dividers, but it provides limited control over the repeats.
In this tutorial I show you how can use the mod envelopes to create a ratchet effect. We go from the basic waveform through to the completed patch. This includes a baseline with a little light percussion all in one key press. This will help you design patches that add some groove to your sound.

Hey everyone, hope you are all doing well? Yesterday, Spectrasonics snuck out a little update to Omnisphere that may have been missed by some of you. Aside from a few fixes and tweaks, they released a cool little new feature.
If you have more than one midi controller and would like to play more than one part in Omnisphere, you would have to go through each part selecting the channel your controller transmits on. What if you cannot remember which channel each one transmits on, or if you just want to play every part from one controller? Well, you can now set the channel to ANY. This is great for those playing live or if you want to use one instance of Omnisphere in your DAW to layer patches.

Releasing these videos over the last few weeks shows it does not matter what your DAW is, you can still collaborate. I use and swear by Cubase, whereas Benedict is a Reason user. The internet brings two corners of the world together and you can create music that would not be conceived or arranged working on your own, cooked up in your little studio.
