With the announcement of the engineering design of the east west line for the Jakarta MRT being handed over to the regional government, it's time to do a major update on my previous animation, almost 1.5 years ago. Some routes have now been moved to an entirely other corridor, while timeframes to start operations now have better estimations or even their first real estimations. Plans for the pretty long east-west line, that will probably see simultaneous construction at several locations in a few years time, are updated once again in this animation. An estimated 11 billion US dollars in investment is needed to construct the entire line, and funding is currently being offered to foreign governments and companies. Phase 4, a still basically imaginary shorter line without any concrete planning as it seems, will connect a KRL Commuter line as well as a line of the LRT Jabodebek system if it's finished in the 2030's. Eventually this line should be made into a huge semi-circle following the main toll road in the southern half of the megalopolis.
