Speaking to Strangers about their Feet Ch. 1 | Embrace the Struggle
Photography/videography and approaching women who are strangers to get them to model for me is a great way of treating anxiety without meds, and treating depression with meds.
I’ve been using the concepts in Marsha M. Linehan’s emotion self regulation dbt manual as a way to get rid of anxiety, a way to get rid of depression, and a way to get rid of stress in order to better conversate with women who are strangers about the appreciation of their feet. These videos will show you the results of my progression.
One of the concepts in the dbt manual is opposite action. You “use opposite action when your emotions do NOT fit the facts or when acting on your emotions is NOT effective.” So for example, when anxiety, depression, and stress prompt negative emotions producing non-constructive effects, you change the negative emotion by acting opposite to its action urge to produce constructive effects.
Human interest photography and videography, specifically concerning women’s feet is one of the things I have on my “Pleasant List Events” (from the dbt manual) that allows me to accumulate positives emotions. However, getting women to model for me can sometimes be a struggle. Just wanting to compliment a woman, especially a random stranger on her bare feet can prompt negative emotions like the fear of rejection, the shame of rejection, or sadness because of rejection. These are all non-constructive effects. In this video I demonstrate and explain how one needs to embrace the struggle when it comes to rejection. What is embracing the struggle? Why is embracing the struggle important? How is embracing the struggle done? And what are the constructive results of embracing the struggle? This video will answer these questions and will assist you in how to handle fear, how to handle sadness, how to handle shame, and how to handle rejection when it comes to speaking to strangers about their feet.
