15 Brothers and sisters, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case. 16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ. 17 What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. 18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise. (Galatians 3:15-18)
People today are looking for happiness and fulfillment in all the wrong places. The world promises these things but it never really delivers. People may experience temporary pleasures but in the end they pay such a high price for it, i.e. they pay with their souls. Consequently, their hearts are pierced with many sorrows and they lose everything in the process. People can only find true salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. That's the only thing that is reliable in this world and in the next.

Practicing solitude has a dual purpose. It allows us to find rest in the Lord and engage in a spiritual battle against the enemies of our soul. Instead of running away from these adversaries, we confront and engage with them. Our inner world is often controlled by the distractions of the world, as we pay more attention to them than to God. To break free from this cycle, we must address these distractions and intentionally carve out a quiet space to be with God. In this peaceful retreat, we can confront the lies that hinder our deepening relationship with God and strive to know and love Him more fully.

Growing in Ministry | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Oct 5, 2022
Text: Luke 12:35-48
The Lord wants us to serve Him. This is the reason why He saved us and why He is transforming us each day by the power of His Holy Spirit. Everyone is called to serve Him in some form of ministry. We are to be faithful to that calling. Although there are different ways of serving God, what is important is how we are serving God. We need to grow in this area.

God's Wrath and His Character | Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
1 What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision? 2 Much in every way! First of all, the Jews have been entrusted with the very words of God. 3 What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness? 4 Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar. As it is written: “So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.” 5 But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.) 6 Certainly not! If that were so, how could God judge the world? 7 Someone might argue, “If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?” 8 Why not say — as some slanderously claim that we say — “Let us do evil that good may result”? Their condemnation is just! (Romans 3:1-8)
Some people find it hard to reconcile the concept of God's wrath with what they perceive to be the character of God. In other words, if God loves us, how can He judge us? For many, God's wrath is inconsistent with His loving, kind, and merciful character. They cannot reconcile those two concepts. It's either one or the other. It cannot be both. Thus, they stumble. But God's wrath is not contrary to His character.

1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? 2 My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest. 3 Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises. 4 In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them. 5 To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame. 6 But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people. 7 All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads. 8 “He trusts in the Lord,” they say, "let the Lord rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.” 9 Yet you brought me out of the womb; you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast. 10 From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God. 11 Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help. (Psalm 22:1-11)
The Christian life is a journey. It's not always full of consolation. Sometimes you also experience desolation. When that happens, we need to discern why. Sometimes the Lord is correcting us. But sometimes the Lord is purifying us. We need to know the difference and respond to Him accordingly.

Main Idea: “When your faith is being purified, God is glorified.” (“Kapag ang pananampalataya mo ay nagiging puro, ang Diyos ay naluluwalhati sa buhay mo.”)
How would you know that you are going through purification and not correction?
Five Signs
1. You are experiencing the felt absence of God (vv.1-2).
2. Your faith in God's character is still intact (vv.3-5).
3. You're still trusting God in spite of the situation (vv.6-8).
4. You remain committed to God's calling for your life (vv.9-10).
5. You long for God's presence again (v.11).
