I received a 2nd piece of unsolicited mail from CarShield addressed to the name "Nachelle" regarding a vehicle service warranty but no car listed this time. I called the number included using funny voices to mess with the folks at CarShield. In this one, I called and acted as a person representing the people receiving these unsolicited letters. I used the name Tim Davis. Apparently the person from the previous call had actually made a note in their system at least that the name on the mailings was wrong. I ended up getting transferred to a supervisor and that supervisor said that they call or send mail to people who sign up on their website for information. While I know that isn't true based on my receiving letters to "Nachelle" and the many complaints on the BBB website about this company, I informed the supervisor that a complaint was filed against them with the BBB and that we wished for no further contact. We will see where it goes from here but it was fun while it lasted.

A little background and update regarding getting a refund:
When I purchased my Canon Rebel T6s in October 2021 from a seller on eBay, I also decided to purchase some extra LP-E17 battery packs and possibly a charger. After doing some searches on a variety of web stores including Amazon and eBay, I found a ridiculous deal for 2 "Genuine" Canon LP-E17 battery packs and a charger & went for it. The seller was located in China but the package arrived relatively quickly despite all the shipping delays going on at the time. I believe that they arrived before the end of October or possibly early November. Foolishly, upon receipt all I did was ensure that they fit in the camera and that the camera turned on. I did not test charge them or test the charger that came with them. I think I even left a good review.
In February 2022, while on vacation, I used one of the batteries I purchased. That evening, when I went to charge the battery nothing happened. I tried it in the battery charger that came with the order as well as with the battery charger I got with the camera. The battery would not charge. In fact neither of those batteries with charge with either charger I had. The battery that came with the camera also would not charge with the charger.
I logged into my eBay account to find that the return window expired in December 2021. Even though it felt like it may be a lost cause, I contacted the seller and explained what I was dealing with...I included some pictures of the batteries in the chargers not charging.
As I show in this video, the batteries look the same as the Canon LP-E17 battery that came with the camera except that the writing on the back is in what I believe to be Chinese characters. Besides the Chinese characters, the difference with the charger is the plug to the wall is a cord rather than a flip out prong deal.
Anyway, I did get a response from the seller & he even offered to do the refund. This was all while on vacation still so I said I'm looking forward to the refund. I wait a week after getting home so maybe 10 days later and message again asking if the refund process had begun. At this point, the seller informs me that he "wants" to refund me but it's too late and wants me to do the work to make it happen.
I have no idea what I can do so I reach out to the eBay help chat and explain what is going on. After being thanked for the years of using eBay I finally get to discussing the situation...I was told to ask the seller to process the refund through PayPal. That shouldn't be a problem I figure as my understanding is that all eBay financial stuff seems to be through PayPal. I believe that is the reason I created my PayPal account. the eBay help chat informs me that they are happy for the resolution that they provided to me during the session. I relay this information to the seller who informs me he does not have a PayPal.
I go back to the eBay help chat and go through the same introductory thanks for using eBay stuff so I can get to dealing with the situation. I explain everything again then add to it that this seller says that they do not have PayPal. I am told that I could file a complaint against the seller. I relay this information to the seller and I get no response. I give him a week then try to figure out how to file the complaint. It would seem that is not really an option for me as the return window closed so I go back through all the same with the eBay help chat to ask about going about this filing a complaint. At this point I am told that I need to get the seller on the chat. I ask how am I supposed to do that but there was no real answer. In the end I was basically told I was out of luck by eBay. Once again, they were happy for the solution that they provided me (no solution at all).
I decided to go to my PayPal account & see what the policies were for filing a claim or dispute. I found that I had until April to make a dispute so I decided to go ahead and do so. I explained how the battery packs and charger were essentially defective. I could use the battery packs once but could not charge them. In this case, the dispute claim would be against eBay rather than the seller but I figured it would then be up to eBay to fight with the seller to be reimbursed if I was able to win my dispute claim.
I did win my dispute claim! I was refunded through PayPal and figure eBay can deal with the seller if they choose. I sent a final message to the seller explaining what I had done and that I would likely not do business with him again as the product was clearly not "genuine" Canon LP-E17 Battery Packs or charger. In the meantime I have purchased new battery packs that came in Canon packaging. As the video shows, they do work.
