This is Ys IX: Monstrum Nox for the PlayStation 4 running on a PlayStation 5. Version 1.02 was released yesterday, May 17, and adds support for 4K resolution for PS5. Prior to this update, the highest resolution for this game was 1080p across PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5. This is still very much a PS4 game, but just like God of War, Days Gone, and Ghost of Tsushima, Ys IX has PS5 support. While this is my first time playing the full game, I did try out the demo that was released prior to the full game's launch and I was pretty disappointed to see that the game ran at 1080p even on PlayStation 5. It's nice to see an increase in resolution for this game on PS5. Load times are pretty snappy. I haven't played this game on PS4 Pro, but if it's anything like Ys VIII, then I imagine load times are pretty quick on PS4 Pro. In case you are wondering, I am running this game from an external SSD. I'm playing from practically the beginning of the game. I mostly wanted to show how much better this game looks in 4K. I'm not 100% sure if it is native 4K or 4K with checkerboard rendering. Going off the patch notes, it says 4K resolution support for PS5, so that's pretty neat.
