Yes, it is our 25th anniversary! As we remember what has happened to us so far over the past 25 years, it is good to thank God for His grace. We have so many fond memories. But we also have not-so-good memories, events, and experiences, that we may want to forget rather than remember. Can we still give thanks even though they are not so good? How?
Lessons in Ministry | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
10 When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, 11 but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing. 12 Late in the afternoon the Twelve came to him and said, “Send the crowd away so they can go to the surrounding villages and countryside and find food and lodging, because we are in a remote place here.” 13 He replied, “You give them something to eat.” They answered, “We have only five loaves of bread and two fish—unless we go and buy food for all this crowd.” 14 (About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” 15 The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. 16 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. 17 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. (Luke 9:10-17)
Serving the Lord is a privilege. But it's also a learning opportunity if we trust in Jesus who calls us to serve Him by faith. There will be many challenges and we may not know what to do in each situation. But the Lord will teach us if we abide in Him and listen to His counsel.

Wrong Assumptions | Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
30 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; 31 but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal. 32 Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone. 33 As it is written: “See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 1 Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. 4 Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. (Romans 9:30-10:4)
Salvation is available for everyone. But not everyone would like to avail of it. Why? It's difficult to understand why some people refuse God's free gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. But we must try to understand so that we can really pray for God's intervention. This is a spiritual battle and only the Spirit of God can open the eyes of an unbeliever. Often the problem is wrong assumptions.

Practicing silence and solitude regularly as a disciple of Jesus is important for several reasons.
Firstly, solitude and silence provide an opportunity to withdraw from the distractions and busyness of life, allowing us to focus our attention on God. In the midst of a fragmented and conflicted world, engaging in prescribed activities such as Bible study, prayer, and church attendance may not have the desired transformative effect. Solitude and silence, on the other hand, create a space for us to be still and know God, redirecting our thoughts, feelings, and choices.
Secondly, solitude and silence have the power to rejuvenate and strengthen us. Lengthy periods of solitude and silence, including rest, can be very powerful in restoring our body and soul. By intentionally choosing these disciplines, we demonstrate our willingness to prioritize God and create space for Him to work in our lives. God does not compete for our attention; if we do not withdraw from the things that exhaust us, He may leave us to our own devices.
Furthermore, solitude and silence can have a ripple effect on our social settings. As we experience transformation through these disciplines, the effects will reverberate through the communities we find ourselves in. Our newfound rest and strength will impact our interactions with others, allowing us to bring a different perspective and presence into our relationships.
In summary, practicing silence and solitude regularly as a disciple of Jesus is important because it enables us to find a new habitual orientation in the Kingdom of God. It allows us to experience God's presence in a deeper way, rejuvenates our body and soul, and has the potential to positively influence our social settings.

Developing Spiritual Leaders | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. 13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles: 14 Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, 15 Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, 16 Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. (Luke 6:12-16)
The most important task of spiritual leaders is to develop other spiritual leaders. Unless this is done, the work of the Lord will not continue. Having activities in the church that are only designed to make people busy will not produce these types of leaders. It must be done intentionally, creatively, and skillfully. How do we develop spiritual leaders? Let's learn this together.

Some of our desires can lead us to a deeper experience with Jesus. However, some of our desires can also mislead us. Attending to our desires and discerning them prayerfully is an important spiritual discipline.

15 The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden. 16 The Lord is known by his acts of justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands. 17 The wicked go down to the realm of the dead, all the nations that forget God. 18 But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish. 19 Arise, Lord, do not let mortals triumph; let the nations be judged in your presence. 20 Strike them with terror, Lord; let the nations know they are only mortal. (Psalm 9:15-20)
Sometimes when we look around us, we envy those who don't seem to care about God but are actually happy or are doing well in their lives. It makes us think, "Why are these people doing well when in fact they are disregarding or rejecting God?" It may create doubts in our hearts. We may ask, "Is following and obeying God really worth it?" Before we conclude wrongly that God is unfair, perhaps it will do us good to know the end of those who reject God or what the Bible calls the "wicked".

Main Idea: “The wicked are not be envied but to be pitied.” (“Ang mga masasama ay hindi dapat kainggitan kundi dapat kaawaan.”)
What will happen to the wicked?
Three Sad Realities
1. They will be ensnared (vv.15-16).
2. They will be cut off early (vv.17-18).
3. They will be judged (vv.19-20).

Spiritual discernment is a process of making wise and prayerful decisions about our lives and our relationship with God. Ignatius of Loyola, a sixteenth-century Spanish mystic and founder of the Jesuit Order, developed a framework for discernment that involves paying attention to the movements of the soul, particularly those of consolation and desolation. We need to understand what these movements are all about.

Gratitude to Jesus | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC

Text: Luke 17:11-19
Everything that we do in the Christian life must be the result of gratitude to Jesus. Without gratitude, we will always struggle with obeying and serving Jesus in whatever area of our lives.
