Scores of people this morning thronged the Lubiri for the 10th Airtel-Kabaka Birthday Run that was flagged off by His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II at Lubiri in Mengo.
Started in 2003, the annual Kabaka Birthday Run has over the last 10 years rallied Ugandans to join celebrate the Kabaka’s life while participating in efforts to reduce the burden of disease.
Previous editions have focused on ending sickle cell, fistula, as well as encouraging people to join efforts towards ending the spread of HIV/ AIDS. Just like the past 2 years, this year, the run was held under the theme Ending HIV/AIDS by 2030.

Traffic has been disrupted on Kampala - Masaka highway in Kayabwe after Katonga River cut off the entire road.
All vehicles including cars and motorcycles cannot cross to the other side as the water is running at a very high speed.
The cutoff of river Katonga has disrupted motor cars and cycles causing traffic along kampala – masaka highway in Kayabwe.
Commuters, shopkeepers and pedestrians were all stranded in the area after law enforcement decided to suspend all traffic to save lives.
Many vehicles were seen stranded in the area and none of them could turn back or move forward.
The drivers say they cannot find anything to eat and don't know when they will leave as the situation is getting worse as the water is rising and running
Security forces have got workable solutions like tying ropes around the affected area to prevent people from crossing.
Leaders have urged people to be vigilant and also expressed concern about the challenges faced during this interruption including patients failing to go to hospitals.
Sarah Nduhukire, who is in charge of traffic from UNRA, has diverted all motor cars from using the dangered road to going through Mpigi town that joins them to Sembabule road
The spokesperson Katonga Police Station ASP Lydia Tumushabe, has warned road users to be vigilant at this time as the authorities are deciding how to solve the problem
As of now, the situation is still tense and police is working tirelessly to stop residents from violating others while robbing their property from their vehicles.
