Unfair Treatment | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
1 Hear me, Lord, my plea is just; listen to my cry. Hear my prayer—it does not rise from deceitful lips. 2 Let my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right. 3 Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed. 4 Though people tried to bribe me, I have kept myself from the ways of the violent through what your lips have commanded. 5 My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not stumbled. 6 I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer. 7 Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes. 8 Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings 9 from the wicked who are out to destroy me, from my mortal enemies who surround me. 10 They close up their callous hearts, and their mouths speak with arrogance. 11 They have tracked me down, they now surround me, with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground. 12 They are like a lion hungry for prey, like a fierce lion crouching in cover. 13 Rise up, Lord, confront them, bring them down; with your sword rescue me from the wicked. 14 By your hand save me from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose reward is in this life. May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies; may their children gorge themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little ones. 15 As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness. (Psalm 17:1-15)
We've all been there. We find ourselves in situations where we are being unfairly treated by people. We feel angry and we want to fight back. We want to defend ourselves, to show those people that they are wrong and we are right. The more we plan our counterattack, the more we feel miserable inside. It's like a no-win situation. What can we do? Of course, we can pray. But how do we pray?

The Crisis of Faith | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Oct 6, 2022
Text: Luke 12:49-13:9
When a person hears the Gospel, he or she is faced with a crisis. Will he or she believe and entrust everything to the Lord or will he or she just continue on as if the Lord did not confront him or her with the Gospel? This is the crisis of faith. We have to decide and we need to decide in the right way, that is we must believe rather than reject the Gospel. Not deciding is already a decision and we will be held accountable for rejecting the truth.

Growing in Ministry | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
Date: Oct 5, 2022
Text: Luke 12:35-48
The Lord wants us to serve Him. This is the reason why He saved us and why He is transforming us each day by the power of His Holy Spirit. Everyone is called to serve Him in some form of ministry. We are to be faithful to that calling. Although there are different ways of serving God, what is important is how we are serving God. We need to grow in this area.

Sorrow is inevitable in life. It will come even though we don't want it. But joy is a gift from God. It is also a discipline. Richard Foster calls the Sabbath a "discipline of celebration." In other words, we must choose to delight during the Sabbath.

Who we are in Christ is very important. It is the basis, not just of our self-worth, but our calling in Christ. In other words, the purpose of our identity is not just to encourage us but to guide us toward the direction of God's will for our lives.

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. 4 One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. 5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. 6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord. 7 Hear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. 8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek. 9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. 10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. 11 Teach me your way, Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. 12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations. 13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. (Psalm 27:1-14)
There are many things that can make us afraid in this life. Aside from the uncertainties, there are also challenges that come our way. How we wish we can be confident! But often we are anxious and afraid because these things are bigger than us. We cannot control them. So we try our best to be self-confident, but in the end, such confidence is not enough.

Main Idea: “True confidence comes from the Lord, not from yourself.” (“Ang tunay na kompiyansa ay nagmumula sa Panginoon, hindi sa sarili.”)
How do you gain confidence in facing challenges?
Three Ways
1. Put your confidence in the Lord's power (vv.1-3).
2. Put your confidence in the Lord's presence (vv.4-6).
3. Put your confidence in the Lord's purpose (vv.7-14).
