Getting Rid of False Attachments | By Pastor Bong Baylon | RLCC
23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? 26 Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. 27 “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:23-27)
Many have yet to experience real life in Christ because they are holding on to a lot of things or persons in this world which prevent them from glorifying God by surrendering to Him fully. These are called false attachments. These things or persons are not necessarily wrong or evil. But we make them more important than loving and serving God wholeheartedly. Thus, they become our idols.

A home is a crucial place for spiritual formation, where parents can create an environment that nurtures their children's faith through practices like prayer and reading the Bible together. By doing so, children can develop a sense of purpose and meaning in their lives, and families can make a positive impact on their communities.

Anger, when chronic, can be a mental health issue that impairs emotional well-being. It can lead to feelings of bitterness, irritability, and hostility and even contribute to conditions like depression and anxiety. In today’s sermon, we will explore the topic of anger using Psalm 37:1–9 as a guide.

Day 1 of RLCC Daily Devo: "Stepping Out in Faith"
Scripture Passage: Hebrews 11:8 (NIV)
"By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going."
Meditation:
Abraham's journey began with a step of faith into the unknown. Think about a time when you had to step out in faith without knowing all the details. What did you learn from that experience?
Personal Application:
Today, reflect on an area in your life where God may be calling you to step out in faith. Trust that His promises accompany your obedience.
Prayer:
Lord, give me the faith to step out into the unknown, knowing that You are with me every step of the way. Amen.

1 In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me: “Flee like a bird to your mountain. 2 For look, the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart. 3 When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” 4 The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes everyone on earth; his eyes examine them. 5 The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion. 6 On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot. 7 For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; the upright will see his face. (Psalm 11:1-7)
Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we feel like running away. We want to quit and leave everything behind. Maybe there is too much pressure. Maybe you're having a hard time dealing with people. Whatever the reason, it's important to understand that running away is a choice, but it's not the only choice. We can run to the Lord instead.

Main Idea: “When you feel like running away, run to the Lord instead.” (“Kung naiisip mo man tumakbo palayo, tumakbo ka papunta sa Panginoon.”)
What do you do when you feel like running away?
Three Things to Remember
1. Remember you have a refuge (vv.1-3).
2. Remember you have a rescuer (vv.4-6).
3. Remember you have a reward (v.7).

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. 48 They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. 49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.” (Luke 6:46-49)
Whether we like it or not, we are building our lives through every choice that we make. Many people are foolishly building their lives toward future catastrophes without even knowing it. By rejecting the claims of Christ right now, they are unknowingly setting up themselves for future failure. But is there another choice? Of course! By obeying Christ today and every day, we can build our lives wisely toward the future.

Main Idea: “Obeying Jesus now is the wisest decision for the future.” (“Ang sumunod kay Jesus ngayon ang pinakamatalinong desisyon para sa kinabukasan.”)
Why should we obey Jesus today and every day?
Three Important Reasons
1. Obedience is a choice (v.46).
2. Obedience has consequences (vv.47-49).
3. Obedience is a confirmation (based on the context).
