Massive Solidarity Rally for Palestine started in central London. Organizers expect 200,000 people for today's demonstration to show their solidarity with the Palestinian people and demand an end to the bombing of Gaza.
Hundreds of thousands of people around the globe show their solidarity with the Palestinian people, who are victims of war crimes committed by Israel and supported by the West. Despite bans on Palestine solidarity in some European countries and soaring support for Palestine worldwide, mainstream media conveniently look the other way. The ongoing protests challenge the narrative of uncontested Israel solidarity.

Join us for live coverage of International Workers' Day protests in Paris! Record-breaking numbers are expected for May Day protests in France, marking a new high point in the months-long militant resistance against Emmanuel Macron's neoliberal reforms.
On World Menstrual Hygiene Day, activists protested in front of Ghana's parliament chanting "Don't Tax My Period". The demonstrators are demanding an end to a so-called "luxury tax" on menstrual products, which mean that the cost of a single sanitary pad costs as much as 25 Ghanaian cedis, equivalent to approximately 2.20 US dollars. Ghana's daily national minimum wage is 14.88cCedis.
Led by the Socialist Movement of Ghana and the feminist group Yebetumi, the campaigners highlight how the extortionate cost of pads is putting the health of Ghanaian women at risk, particularly in the impoverished countryside. Many women are forced to use untreated fabrics like clothes, toilet paper or baby diapers, and many school girls report missing school during their monthly cycle because of lack of access to menstrual products.
Meanwhile, Ghaniains are struggling with soaring living costs in general as inflation hit 42.2% amidst the country's worst economic crisis in a generation. Public spending is set to be squeezed even further as Accra takes a new 3 billion dollar IMF loan, with which the US dominated institution will demand severe austerity measures.

After World War II, thousands of Nazi war criminals found refuge in Latin America with the help of the Catholic Church. Watch Ollie Vargas break down how not only were these Nazis not prosecuted, but often were hired by the CIA and various right wing Latin American dictatorships to persecute leftists and social movements, perpetrating atrocities and human rights abuses.

On this day in 1947, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) was formed by US President Harry Truman, primarily as the secret intelligence arm of US domestic and foreign anti-communist warfare. The CIA rapidly developed into one of the biggest threats to democracy and human rights, sponsoring coups and right-wing dictatorships in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. In the words of the former CIA director Mike Pompeo, "We lied, we cheated, we stole." Watch Ollie Vargas explain why arch-British imperialist Winston Churchill was a keen supporter of the establishment of the CIA.

Bangladeshi police launch a fresh round of repression against garment workers who've been on strike for over a week. Workers demand a monthly minimum wage of 23,000 Tk ($209).
Talks broke down two days ago after the government offered a mere 12,500 Tk ($112) as the new monthly wage. Unions reject the proposal and have returned to the streets.
Bangladesh's garment industry generates around $55 billion annually, supplying Western brands such as H&M, Walmart, and Zara. Meanwhile, the workers who produce these clothes are paid, on average, 8,300 Tk per month ($75).
The epicenter of the protests has been the capital, Dhaka, and the industrial city of Gazipur, where police say that at least 100 factories have been closed down by striking workers, who have also been blocking key highways leading daily marches. So far, three striking workers have been killed in the repression.
Workers are taking this action in response to sky-high inflation of more than 10% monthly due to an IMF 'structural adjustment' program this year that forced the country to end exchange rate controls.

Thousands of people around the world have taken to the streets to mark International Safe Abortion Day.
Globally, an estimated 25 million unsafe abortions are performed each year, 45% of all abortions. Unsafe abortion is also responsible for up to 13% of maternal deaths.
While 97% of these unsafe abortions happen in the Global South, where access to legal and affordable abortion services is limited, the “September 28 Day of Action” campaign organizers note that: “Several European countries and increasingly the United States face fierce attacks by the opposition groups that wish to curtail women’s reproductive freedom by imposing legal and financial restrictions, projecting greater stigma and discrimination and further obstructing access to abortion care.”
The campaign was originally founded by women’s groups in Latin America and the Caribbean. September 28 was chosen to coincide with the abolition of slavery in Brazil. In 2011 it was established as a day of global solidarity for the right of women to have safe and legal abortions.
