On the outskirts of Rotorua lies an amazing, active thermal area that you can explore for free called Rainbow Mountain. The nice walking track gives you easy access to views of a beautiful blue lake along with red ochre cliffs that give Rainbow Mountain its name. If you like mountain biking, there's also a great trail for that, which ends at the famous Kerosene Creek natural hot springs. Bardia National Park in Western Nepal is the best place to see wild tigers in Nepal. We took a 20 hour bus ride from Kathmandu and spent 4 days walking around Bardia looking for wild tigers. We saw wild rhinos, crocodiles, otters, tons of birds and even a wild tiger. I highly recommend Bardia if you want to go on a jungle safari in Nepal. We stayed at the Bardia Wild Planet Jungle Retreat and enjoyed their clean and adequate accommodations for only 500 rupees ($4.38) per night. The food was good and their guides were very knowledgeable.
