A mixed number consists of a whole number and a fraction. We we can convert a mixed number to a decimal by setting the whole number to the side as we rewrite the fractional part as a decimal. Then we add them together. We use long division to divide the numerator by the denominator. We may need to place a decimal point to the right of the dividend and continually add zeros to keep dividing. We divide until we get a zero remainder, or the digits begin to repeat. We show how to write several fractions and decimals in order from least to greatest. We review how to write a repeating decimal by putting a bar above the repeating digits.
