This video summarizes the process of working cattle in East Texas with Regenerative Rancher, Karl Ebel. This herd was worked in a corral handling system that was customized using a grain silo. He used the grain silo with his existing corral to create a circular handling system for his cattle. The grain silo was used to eliminate many of the corners within his corral, creating a smooth handling system for his livestock. The day began at 8am and within 4 hours all 240 head of cattle had been worked. The working included: weaning, castration via banding, worming, and vaccination. Mr. Karl Ebel is located in East Texas, actively working to restore a portion of his acreage to native, tall-grass prairie. His efforts have been successful and, in place of hay, his herd grazes a native grass stockpile throughout the winter. He operates a year-round rotational grazing system for his cows to avoid overgrazing and to restore soil health.
